Hi guys I'm currently on my P2s with no record of any fines, accidents or anything, I have just bought a manual skyline, but only have me auto license (have my manuals booked early next month), if I drive around in the manual non-turbo factory standard non-eye catching skyline, will I get pulled over and get license inspected, lose my license and get a massive fine for driving without a manual license? Will they ban me from driving forever and cancel my manuals test next month too? And will they confiscate my car since I'm unlicensed to drive a manual on the spot?

Reason is, I'm really keen to drive my new car that I bought as it is the first one for me but I can't wait for me to pass the manuals test next month, what do you guys reckon?

Put up some green Ps and drive it like no tomorrow?

Be good and put up some Ls and only drive it with licensed drivers?

How long is a piece of string?

You take the gamble, it's illegal and it's your license.

Past history counts for nothing realistically. Behave, it's only a month. Better to do it right as if you lose 3 demerits, you are on eggshells for the next 12 months and any offence will see you losing license. (not sure if you do accrue points for it, ring VicRoads).

Yes its a new car etc, but the urge to drive it - just wait. You'll have 7 days and 24hrs to do so once you get your manual license.

Ah, same boat I'm in. Except mine hasn't arrived yet. Over the sea somewhere...:( But should be close to Aus by now, surely...

But I digress.

Aaanyhow, I think the fine is ~$110 with 0 points if you get caught.

But I've also heard stories of like mate's mate's (so really dunno how reliable this is); being not allowed to drive home from where he was caught lols. Then there's always the chance they won't even notice.

Really it's up to you if you want to take the risk. I need to book mine soon as well; and I know I'd be tempted to drive if I had mine here while waiting for my test...but you know. I doubt you really wanna get dicked when the test is less than a month away :/

I don't know if you're trolling me, but I'm a male and you shouldn't make assumptions like that.

Just having a bit of a lend of you champ... :nyaanyaa:

Questions like this come up every few months... ...it's either wait until you go and pass your manual licence or get your manual licence in the first place... ...It's a choice you've made, and, well, you've now got to stick with it... >_<

Yeah I wanted to get manuals but my parents were like no no manuals, auto please auto...since they were paying for my lessons I have no choice. Now that I've got a car, I need to start learning again, though it's mainly changing gears and stuff, road conditions, control etc I'm cool with to pass the test.

happened to me once about 3 years ago now.. i got a $200 fine. no points. with the laws today i wouldn't risk it since people have started to cop points in defects now...

for what?

Officers discretion hamish. If they feel you're too much of an asshole to them or if it's repeat offence or really... For any reason at all because the officer says so, you can also cop points. officer discretion is a wonderful thing isn't it? Just like my major defect for what's usually a minor. Vicroads can't do shit...only way you get out of an officer discretionary punishment is if you can make the officer change their mind...

Yeah right
