Any Car Faster Than Gtr Good For Airport Run?

Recommended Posts

right... QLD is under water, NZ is falling down and Japan is on the brink of a nuclear disaster and you guys are having an argument about who's supercar is best

OP you really just started this thread to get everyone to agree with you and make you feel all warm and fuzzy... smart_one has just shit in your cereal, which happens in an open forum from time to time, deal with it

both of you grow up and get some perspective FFS

Pics or it didn't happen skittles.

I soooo should have. Next time I do anything like that I will.

I made sure I didn't wash the car for the next day though. I left the foot/hand prints on the windows and the body print on the bonnet so the next day when I went to training, I said, "hey guys... look over there.." haha

Yes I forgot the GTR was designed with Japanese people in mind which means only japs can fit in the back seat and do the dirty Sanchez. Is that why there is sufficient rear lighting in the back? Nice and cozy.

Size of the backseat doesn't matter when you're f**king a dancer. She had both feet and hands on the rear quarter panel at the same time xD

Didn't notice the lighting.. did it around the size of her parents house whilst her mum was in the loungeroom watching TV.

It's a pressing issue, mate. Don't let the fun we have experimenting deter you from the dire need to prove these points right. I dare speak of what could happen if we don't get this matter sorted...

Well that theory can be applied to anything. You could go to a cinema and say why are you watching movies while all this is going on. You could go go people's houses and say the same thing about TV, poker, SEX, where do you stop?

I just think discussing cars is fun. Although I don't see the need to personally insult someone who has a different opionion. But I'm new here, so if that sort of thing is in, I can give as good as I can take. I've lived in Australia since I was nine, survived high school here. Believe me I know how to piss people off and give $h!t.

And for a bunch of car enthusiasts some of you guys really make for lousy psychologists. First it's i'm here to pose about owning cars I can't afford to strangers on the internet. Now I'm supposedly here for a GTR group hug. REALLY? Can't I just be here to for the stated reason? To ask if a faster car capable of an airport run exists?

it was a rhetorical question and you know it... you asked it anyway and when someone came up with an answer you didn't like you had a fit

good on smart_one for presenting an alternate opinion around here for a change... at least he injected some entertainment into this self-flagellation thread

Really nice that you can read my mind but not my posts. Telling me what I know and think. Again, don't quit your day job to become a shrink.

As for having a fit. You consider politely asking people to stick to the issue without personal attacks as having a fit? You've got a different understanding of the word to me.

Just for the record, I bought the R35 as a daily, as my example turned out to be a lemon, I bought the cayman as a daily to replace the r35. It isn't anywhere as quick, but Atleast it gets me from a to b, fits into car spaces easily, not worried of it getting damaged. I have learnt to accept the looks, just as I learnt to accept the R35 looks. And I can not use my other cars as daily drivers. For starters some are not road legal, not enough clearance to get over speed humps, or I'd be crazy to park them at the shops to do grocery shopping with.

I wanted to reveal my collection to fellow enthusiasts, but looking at how other exotic and super car owners have been crucified on here, I wouldn't dare open that can of worms.

well you already own an R32 GTR which is reason enough in my book to stick around, and if any of the other mystery cars happen to be an F40 or a Maclaren (a real one, the 90s F1 of course) then please tell me you are female, single and like blokes like me with small peckers. conversely if you are a bloke, but gay and have the F40 AND the Maclaren then I'm willing to change....

in all seriousness. I owned an R35 GTR. I loved it. it was a great car. I imported mine myself (and 2 others for people I know) from japan. mine was an 08 model JDM with the jap spec launch control etc. it was a revelation. I've been lucky enough to drive some fancy cars over the years but at the time, for the money I couldn't think of a car I'd rather own at that price point.

I love my nissans and my GTRs and still have 2 X R32 GTRs. but i've loved most cars i've owned for one reason or another. I've also owned 33 and 34 GTRs, RX7s, silvias, EVO and I even like the odd euro car. I LOVE some of the great porsches like the GT3, GT2, the 997 911 turbo is a super capable car, I adore the sound of a lamborghini gallardo V10 and if I had one I'd even consider the bloody convertible just so I could hear the engine at full volume better. I reckon the F430 is a great piece of gear too and drive very nicely and have a very distinctive note.

everyone's intitled to their opinion about what car is great/good/better but try not to take it personally and try not to make it personal either.

right now I'm longing for an E30 M3, and I would probably murder for an F40 or a Maclaren F1. those 2 are somewhat out of my budget sadly but maybe one day.... until then there are lots of great cars to enjoy.

Reliability with my personal experience says the japs have no idea what they are doing. Good day to you.

You may wish to rephrase that to "the Euros have no idea what they are doing"

For 26 years i have owned predominately nissan cars and commercials simply because they have been the best damn bang for buck in terms of purchase price and reliability in the automotive worls.

Enter Renault, Goodbye reliability. I am stuck in a time warp atm afraid to upgrade because of all the horror storys around the later models, Particularly the 4x4 segment but across the board in general.

Fark the euros.

^Sell all your cars and buy one... So worth it :P

As for R35 reliability, i can only assume there are lemons, like any brand i reckon. I must have done 40 to 50 track days in my R35 - i am not kidding - and with multiple track records (60.8 seconds at Wakefield fwiw) and i have had next to zero issues, the car has been rock solid. I've tried doing balls out track days in other cars, and they just aren't a patch on the japs. Perhaps i have been lucky, but i am more inclined to reckon the odd vocal few with issues are just unlucky bastards. It happens with all marques.

Corvette ZR1 boot space 634 litres, 0-100 3.4secs, 330kmh top speed. Info from here and here.

I was about to suggest he ZR1, massive booty (i mean boot)

A director at work has a 2010 model ZR1 RHD, it made my nipples hard when I stomped on the gas in first gear...

please stop posting links to F40s for sale. for a moment it makes me consider selling my house and just living in an F40 and use the rest of the money for fuel... the way things are going at the moment it look like the end of the world is coming anyway so compared to property an F40 looks like a good investment. hell it might even enable me to outrun any impending tsunami?

Are you kidding me? Talk to any automotive engineer in the world. There is no advantage to the rear engine layout that justifies its existence over the mid-engine layout. This is a fact of physics, not an opinion. blah blah blah..

sry short attention span. TECHNICALLY its wrong, and i do agree with you there. but considering up until the latest GTR (and apparently the ZR1) nothing has been able to catch that backwards piece of crap around the ring for the last how long???? longer than i care to think back...so maybe its not so wrong? power down for example in a rear engine RWD car is awesome...i just think theyre good at what they do :)

I think you may have just had an isolated bad experience with the R35 there are many drivign around now for about 2 years with not a single problem. I would love to hear about your other exotics, people should have appreciation for all brands.

yep the interweb forums seem to highlight and exacerbate the handful of people that have had problems while ignoring the hundreds of thousands that havent

re the rear engine layout of a 911, yep Porsche do know about it's limitations. They tried shifting their customers to an FR with the 928 and no one bought it. They tried again with the cheaper 924 and no one bought that either. The 911 is here to stay and it's layout defies physics in it's own way

also +1 on the F40 being one of the best cars ever built, arguably last of the true supercars, but a modified F40 is about as collectable as a post-it note

Relax with the R35 better than the rest crap, go out and drive some cars is all I can say. I have a 2010 R35 and I lurk here every now and then.

It is a great car for the money, there are still better cars out there but you pay more for them and it depends in what you want from a car. If you want looks then don't get an R35, if you want reliability don't get an R35 ( I keep having issues and finally Nissan is ordering a transmission for me, my navigation/multimedia unit sometimes works, sometimes doesn't). If you like to pose to euros about your 0-100 times and 60ft launch times then get an R35, but then they get back by saying "what about your 60-160 times? " If you can afford something better, then get it, if you can't then you are stuck with these, although they are not bad, they are not great either and only kids and hoons seem to appreciate them unless you are at an owners meet. I have never had a random breath test in anything other than the R35 which I have been singled out 3 times since owning it (no fines).

0-100 times are not what car guys care about, ofcorse an R35 is going to have a good 0-100 time, it is awd and geared for it, japs are facinated about 0-100 times and 60 ft launch times. And yes it has an awesome 0-100 time for the money you spend.

I am glad I have owned an R35, but when I sell it I won't miss it. It doesn't excite me like other cars and bikes do. An MX5 excites me more.

I am currently looking for a new car to replace the R35, Series 3 sounds good, but do I want to do it again? Probably not.

In regards to being the fastest. Wakefield and Winton lap times say it all.

Wakefield:

Porsche 911 turbo = 1:05

Porsche 911 GT2 = 1.05.05

Porsche 911 Gt3 = 1.05.10

Series 2 R35 GTR = 1.05.80

Winton

Porsche 911 GT2 = 1.32.10

Lambo Gallardo = 1.32.80

Series 2 R35 = 1.33.70

Series 1 R35 = 1.36.30

Found it from the Wheels Magazine, short tracks so a 1 second difference is quite large really.

When it comes to round the track its all about the type of setup and tune also the driver!! you cant just go buy them figures!!!

Oh my god I just made a mess of myself :worship: I'd have to say the F40 is my favourite car of all time. It's what drew me to cars when I was a little kid. Hopefully I win the lotto soon lol

    • Hey guys. I have a 400R on its way to Australia from Japan currently and have a few questions I’m hoping others may be able to help with.   Wondering if anyone here has had any luck getting the Sat nav unit to work in Australia!? Assuming the Stereo is as simple as a band expanded and tv won’t work?  Seeing as they’re based off a Q50 which is Aus delivered is there any way to link that system to the nav? Nav modules and head unit are different part numbers and appear slightly different at the rear with plug ins etc. can I put my xtrail sd card into the rv37 and will that convert the maps or update to Australian? Has anyone got any advice here?     also has anyone fitted the factory remote start and Security system once it’s landed in Australia? I put an enquirey to Nissan Japan in via a third party, and they suggested it needs a Nissan Japan dealers device to setup and couldn’t guarantee if one here could do it or not. They can supply and I can physically fit it but to setup I would need a dealers device. Any information here would be appreciated also. I’ve seen one here with it fitted already prior to leaving Japan at a dealer/inporter, so clearly passes compliance and works when fitted Japan and doesn’t need changing here.      also, does the tyre inflation sensors work here? Does anything change with them when the vehicle arrives? Where are they actually situated? I’ve read they have batteries and they need to changing at times and seems like resetting involves the nav system?    any help here would be appreciated and any other aust specific information to help would be great. Looking forward to see what the current generation skyline is like and eager to see how many of the gadgets can be utilised here.  Thanks in advance
    • Do need to take it with a pinch of salt. One of the adapter failures, they clearly had setup issues with the flywheel.  One of the slipping ones I spoke to and it was pretty clear the throwout was riding, rather than fix, just swapped to a new clutch.    These clutches are being put in anything from 5k offroad 4x4 beaters, GR yaris, 500hp commodores to 1200hp barra monsters. Bound to be some issues in some of them when they are not a simple bolt in affair due to the changes in height.    There is a lot going on in this picture and unless I did the job myself no way to tell what really happened.
    • I did this mod in 2019  You just have to modify the top bracket of the ABS/TC/Fuel Pump Control ECU so it sits more upright and closer to the back seat and run a good quality positive battery lead from the engine bay, the negative lead i just bolted down to the body in the boot.
    • Damn... Not the feedback I want to hear.
