why? an RB25 is superior in every way and I'd even argue an RB20 over a single cam 30.

or if you already have a 32 or 33 GTST why not just do what everyone else does and use your 20 or 25 head on the 30 block? much better option.

They don't make big power without a lot of work. The heads flow pretty well the same as RB20 heads so not much point.. slap a 25 head on it, then drop it in your skyline.

SO much easier to go the twin cam route when it comes to management and ancillaries, keep what is suited to your car. I used an R32 RB25DE head which meant EVERYTHING that was on my RB20 swapped straight over to the RB25/30.

they dont make power? WHAT!!??

i had a 12 second vl before i got the r32 i currently have. the whole setup owed me no more than 2 grand and it made over 200rwkw with a standard computer and an untouched non turbo rb30. i have a mate making 380hp with an also completely stock non turbo rb30 bar a head gasket and cam. i also have another mate making 400hp with a stock turbo rb30, just has a cam and valve springs.

im not trying to say they are better than a 25, but they make power just as easy, and have an extra 500cc! and in my opinion are alot more simple and easy to work on. yeah as a vl owner i guess im just more biased to the rb30.

im thinking of doing it cause ive never seen it done and it would be something totally different. obviously the long term plan would be a single cam head for when i want to make some really serious power

like it or not - they don't flow without alot of work to the head. I had one in my last 31 RB30e + turbo and it was great (for what it was)

great for up to 250rwkw in a dirty 1, but in a jap import skyline...why?

If you were going to all the effort you would put a twin cam RB30 into it like most people do.

Spending all the money getting a SOHC RB30 into there is just pointless, hence why people don't do it and why you wouldn't see many. You would make more power, spending less money on the current engine in there than the engine swap just for the sake of "something different".

what would make it so much harder to do a single cam rb30 than a twin cam?

Nobody is saying its easier or harder, Just pointless. Do you seriously thing the single cam head is going to flow what the twin cam can do.

?

omfg read my previous post. i never said anything about an rb30 is better or flows better than a 25!!!!!!!!!!!!

lol no one would put a rb30 in a 32.... single cam... thats just stupid

You say that but there used to be someone who drifted a R32 with a RB30ET in Perth...

Pretty sure he must have come from the east though, I don't know any West Aussies that would be that stupid!

So to the OP, yes it has been done but no don't do it because it's a shit idea
