Noisy Timing Belt

just wondering if anyone else has fitted a new gates timing belt to a rb26dett and found that it is noisey? any help would be appreciated thanks

Yes it usually does. It has been slightly overtightened and that is why you are getting the humming sound.

Either that or your PPQ frangipani number plates have arrived and the bees are starting to gather

Hmmm i always thought it was my clutch fan making that humming noise at idle... maybe it is my Gates timing belt.

I have a Gates timing belt as well and yep - noisy (whurrwhurr - haha), although mainly after the engine has been running for an hour or so.

This is common with Gates belts

Mine was, I changed it with a Dayco, and no more noise. Quiet as a mouse.

My opinion - Noise is bad. It means there is friction \ something not lining up right.
