Hey guys

Just had my first real accident at the joyous age of 29. I was pulling out right onto a main rd and hiluxy type thing was pulling in. I saw him but didnt notice a blinker so started pulling out(its a finky place can be stuck for ages if u dont take ur chances) whilst looking left then looked right again and wow he's pulling into the street im in and i hit him. I think more damage to my car than his but it was too dark to tell. My bonnet is bent, front spoiler and lip damaged, drivers quarter panel damaged, and drivers headlight enclosure smashed. Maybe some damage in corner of engine bay havent opened it incase i cant close it again. I feel like total crap.

Anyway i have full comprehensive insurance but ironically its due for renewall in less than 2 weeks. Should i auto renew it now before i tell them about accident tomorrow?

Also can anyone recommend some repairers pref lower north shore. I was thinking of just trying to give it to powerplay imports to fix as they are who i got it thru and have done all the servicing over the years but the car will need some paint work too.

Help me out guys... this is my first accident, i feel soooooo bad. :(

If it's due for renewal now, that's not a problem. Just give them a ring, let them know what's happened, then afterwards discuss renewal with them. Take things one at a time. Biggest thing is to stay calm about it all; it sucks now, but I've been there, so just have a sit and chill :)

Unfortunately I can't recommend places cause I'm quite a way away, but as I said, the biggest thing now is to go "hey, I'm ok, and the car will get fixed".

Chin up! Everyone makes mistakes, and things get better. Bro hugs.

Been trying to find recommended smash repairs / workshops and its hard going on this site!! Most thrads i find are closed without giving comments. Anyhow. I've found one which is close called "Chatswood Prestigue Auto Repair center"... website seems good, can anyone comment?

well yes, as soon as you have an accident your insurer states in the PDS to call them straight away.

now this is where it can get tricky.

the insurer has sent you a renewal with new terms and conditions - most insurers I know now cannot affect your NCB this renewal due to this ATF claim - however it will be affected next renewal. some other insurers will infact send you a new renewal with the lower NCB with higher premium. if you want a tip PM me :)

so tell them, lodge claim and they'll tell you which repairer is good in your area.

you'll then pay your excess.

done and done.

There is a place down near botany who do prestige cars. The guy who owns the joint is a member here and owns an R33 him self. They work on ferraris, lambos, bmw, mercs and cars alike. There work is nothing short of amazing. I cant remember his name but check the for sale section and search for a carbon fiber bonnet for an R33 and me posting in the thread.

i can understand why you want to renew before you claim coz now your costs are going to go up noticeable due to accident history and being at fault.

BL man, hope it all goes well. Your car looks sonic silver, if you need panels, ive got driver quart, bonnet and passenger quart is pretty good condition.

Im gonna give the car to Jack Hillermans in Artarmon. Very close to home and their workshop looked big and tidy and they were nice to talk too.

I was just about to post this.

Jack Hillermans are the place to go on the lower North Shore - highly recommended.

    • They see me rollin' they hatin'....... Took me most of the day to make the necessary mods to the mounts to make them fit the car.  Fortunately I was able to just use the mounts that came with the rotisserie. The rear ones are really secure, the front I feel i might reinforce a bit more as it doesn't seem like enough attachment to the vehicle. I'm sure it's fine but better to be safe than (extremely...) sorry.  I drilled and tapped thread into additional M12 holes to each car mount where it attaches to the rotisserie as an extra fail-safe. Without them the side to side movement is just restricted by the allen head pinch bolts, nothing actually goes though the beam. Does now! I still need to adjust the rotisserie to get the car centred in terms of centre of gravity. If it's too high or too low relative to the rotational centre line of the car, it will be like a turtle and roll onto its back or as it currently sits, I dont think I'd be able to rotate it as it sits as it needs to lift the whole car up as it rotates. Ain't happening... I'm going to be nervous as hell the first time I go to spin it on its side...
    • Oh yes done this when the window started flopping around.  Turns out the guides that run along the rail chanel had crumbed way. Took off the door card and pulled out the window mech, then the window, which you have to pull out through the top. As said unbolt the guide rail and don't spend 30 minutes getting frustrated trying to find a way to slide it out upwards cause that don't frigging work. Drop it down and out through the door hole. All I did to repair it was slice some 10mm clear plastic tube, vertically, then screw it to the guide rail both sides. This tubing rolls inward on both sides and leaves a gap wide enough to hold the window. To finish all I did was lube the plastic tube with olive oil and Bob's your uncle . . . well if he has the operation he can be your Aunt ! !  10 bucks in plastic tube and another 5 minute job done again . . . . YEH BULLSH#T ! My love for Skylines knows no bounds !
    • So was there a solution to this problem? I’m having this issue now.
    • not expensive, just irreplaceable if you don't go sub 60 at wakie in that thing people will start talking
    • I haven't replaced that, but I have had the doors apart on the r32 a couple of times The door skin will be held on by a combination of clips and bolts, just take it slowly and make sure all the sneaky hidden bolts are out Once the skin is off you should be able to pop that piece off pretty easily, looks like there are only 2 bolts holding it on
