Hey there I was wondering if anyone could help me out with the dilemma I'm faced with. I have a low r33 gtst and love the "flush" look I currently have. With lowering my car substantially I have also noticed that my steering has gone downhill. My questions are:

1. I have seen people use solid subframe risers like the ones from MAX, are these a good solution or just a band-aid fix?

2. What is needed to fix the front suspension geometry?

3. Should I just raise my car?

Thanks in advance.

You're going to need to explain it better, "my steering has gone down hill" says literally nothing about the problem you're having.

Do you mean your car still rolls?

Back kicks out more?

Doesn't steer straight?

Scrubbing?

Gonna have to be more specific mate...

My question is really aimed towards fixing suspension geometry by raising both the rear sub frame and front LCA. I believe this is the root of the problem.

well you have front camber goin on, overly lowered cars generally wont handle as well as properly lowered cars that have been aligned well..

so have you got:

adjustable camber bushes front and rear

adjustable castor (not a necessity but can help)

Im guessin if you dial out some of the camber your wheels will scrub, so raise the car and get a correct alignment... or better offset rims thinner rims (so you can fit them under the guard once you lower it that far) and lower it again... but lack of tyre width will reduce grip a tad.

Hey thanks Brentton, although I'm in NSW.

For the people that are suggesting wheel alignments and the like.. I really don't think you've caught onto what I'm talking about.

What I'm talking about is along the lines of re-drilling the lower control arm / castor arm up higher to correct geometry.

If anyone has done this to their car please shed some insight onto what exactly is needed to do.

Another place I’ve heard of that is highly recommended is Hassam (I think that the way its spelt) and im pretty shore they are in syd.

Ask in the NSW section for a recommended suspension specialist.

Its Heasman, they're awesome

the car feels less responsive and generally feels less direct when being pushed.

This has a lot to do with alignment, lowering your car will put alignment out of spec, (more -ve camber, excessive toe in) get an alignment done and go from there

if you want to change the position of your lower control arm to correct roll centre, you can do this with adjustable urethane bushes, but you can only raise it so much

you're still better off raising the car to the right ride height for this

You have rooted the geometry of the chassis by excessive lowering.

You can fart arse around trying to correct roll center, bump steer etc etc but it will never be right without re designing the geometry and fabricating new pick up points and arms.

NO alignment or bush changes are going to correct the issues you have created. I specialize in suspension geometry design and correction for circuit racing, it is possible but costly to rectify properly.

Keep in mind if you wanna fix the geometry you're probably going to have to modify the upper arm as well...

I know nisskid was toying with the idea of putting basically an S14 front setup in his R32... not sure how far he researched into that though.
