its hard to see Dale cos its white and plain but once the bonnet is painted and glossy then it'll look really good.......

That is a sexy beast! Hmm bonnet upgrade one day maybe? Haha

Where did that bonnet come from? Modelled from a Dolphin or is it a Dolphin one?

yep its a freeway dolphin bonnet apparentely the first one thats popped up for sale in 4 years.

they dont make them anymore, so was lucky to pick it up second hand!!!

apparently when new they sold for $1600 but i'm hoping to make them for under $1200, going to speak to some mates but i'm thinking i need atleast 5-10 people who are keen to make it worth my while.

  • 1 month later...

well after having a ball at Texi on Saturday my power steering is broken,

so its either I blew a pressure seal in the rack or the pump, its not leaking but it don't work.

at first I thought it was intermittent but now im pretty sure it doesn't work at all.

also a side note: maybe Alex would know, is the Series 1 and 2 power steering setups different seeing as the S2 came with a cooler? just wondering cos I would like to upgrade as I believe the S1 unit cant stand up to the abuse of full opposite lock drifting HAHA

I'm pretty sure the pump is the same, except a (piss small) cooler was added in one of the lines. It sits right at the front in front of the A/C condensor.

Your not running a P/S cooler? If not, get a small PWR cooler, and plumb it in the return line. I think several guys should be able to let you know their set ups. I think a seal in the pump unit is the first to go.

It's well known the pump will fail at the track without a cooler. Any small core will do, I am using a motorbike oil cooler but I have a spare small trans cooler here you could buy cheap if you want...

its called full lock drifting to much pressure/stress I would assume, I just wanted to know if the S2 pump or rack was different/better otherwise I will get mine rebuilt and modified so that this doesn't happen again if I decide to go drifting again.

like I said it wasn't leaking anywhere and I couldn't see it boiling in the reservoir and the cooler wasn't hot enough to burn my hand but that was after I felt it fail.

Did you use a spray can on the bonnet. Would look mad in 3m black or carbon vinyl wrap

yes I got the black off it and used a spray can so it wouldn't stand out as much to the police, but it'll be taken back off and finish being high filled and painted properly.

yeah it would look mad in black or carbon but I don't want it to stand out an pull unwanted attention :)

    • Somehow Vertimass/Oak Ridge National Labs has figured out a catalyst that can convert ethanol into C9-C10 hydrocarbons in basically a single step without ending up with a bunch of ethylene or similar waste products: https://patents.google.com/patent/WO2023224867A1/en I still don't think anything like this will keep us from needing to transition to EVs regardless along with all kinds of other electrification, but things like this will go a long way towards alleviating the problem of how to electrify things like planes. Renewable diesel is seemingly an easier problem as well, Chevron is already running refineries for the stuff and the primary feedstock is tallow and other waste fats from agriculture.
    • Ok so I have sorted everything with my uniclutch and  i can offer up a bit of feedback and some things that might help others.    I found problems with factory damper line. Weird shit and had trouble with peddle adjustment    I used this https://au.gktech.com/products/r33-gts-t-skyline-braided-clutch-line?_pos=2&_sid=22b01b9b9&_ss=r Also when adjusting peddle leave a bit of play. You can get into a over stroke condition easy.. Make sure you can push the slave forward after adjusting to confirm fluid can return to master then you will need to pump it up heaps…..not sure why but that’s how it is.    last thing the splined adapter is machined perfectly. If your input shaft is old like mine was I would put a bit of valve grinding paste on it and stroke it like a 15 year old. Just to give it a tad more clearance and to better match it to the spline.    reason is on a near flat shift I have had situation where the peddle returns a millisecond after you lift from the clutch. No slip or anything but I reckon this is due to tolerance on the spline being way tighter than stock clutch and binding for a sec. I think this will go away but also my spline was old. Box is old so I guess I should have checked better. It’s a super neat fit.    it feels light as and holds awesome without any noise
    • My Fuga Hybrid is JDM, 2014 model but very similar to the V37 from the looks of things..same platform just physically larger and very comfortab;e
    • Was that Australia Delivered Duncan? Does it have siren etc?   I used to have remote start on an old 32 two decades ago, it was a cool feature. I used to wake up early in winter for work. Start it and by the time i was out the door a few minutes later the engine was warmed up and the heaters had the car toasty. It was great.    I don’t mine the ambience lighting.  I drive a western star and it has footwell lights and ambient lighting and it’s great! From the pics of seen of them installed in a skyline I think it’s a nice touch
    • re the security system, my Fuga/Q70 has the factory option where the puddle lights in the mirrors turn on when the prox key is detected, it was clearly dealer fitted and has a switch in the lower dash to disable it....it didn't have remote start but TBH I don't really miss that, I had it in the Stagea originally but never used it....we don't often have to warm the car up in the snow before we get in for Australia. And the Fuga also has the illuminated footwells, sounds like a useless feature but I actually quite like the indirect light within the car, it was a nice addition
