rondofj
Hi fellows, Just getting a Nistune for my R34GTT this week - got usual stage 1 mods - intake, turbo-back exhaust, FMIC, boost controller at 12psi, plugs.. Been to Uni Group, Unique Autosports, Croydon, Powertune so far.. Powertune seems to have the better price of the lot, but they seem to mostly do EVOs and Silvias.. They quoted me $610 for install Nistune board onto my ECU and have it tuned ( I buy the board separately ). Is that a good price? Anyone can recommend a reasonably priced and GOOD tuner in Sydney who will not do a quick n dirty job? Am just after a nice sharp STREET tune.. GTR_JOEY
Yavuz at unigroup engineering, does alot of Rb engines and knows damn well what he's on about. He may charge a little bit more then some of your other quotes but when it comes to tuning ya want the best! badhairdave
The type 4 board on it's own is 460 so you are up around the 1100 dollar mark http://www.nistune.com/equipment-products-type4.php Unigroup do them for that. I have nothing against powertune but i honestly see them more as an excellent developer of bespoke parts, like their manifolds, gear box adapters, fuel pump cradles, injector rail kits etc, first and a tuner second. I see unigroup as a tuner (and cam designer/supplier) before anything else. SiR_RB
When I was shopping around for my nistune, most companies wanted around $1100 installed and tuned. I think CRD were the only ones who wanted about $1400 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/358039-nistune-tuner-in-sydney/#findComment-5721653 Share on other sites
rondofj
Thanks for the replies - btw Dave, you do not need the licence for the Type 4 or any Nistune board (leave that to the tuner) - the board itself is $260 + GST. I spoke to Yavuz, he is a very nice bloke who definitely knows what he's on about, unfortunately his price is pretty steep.. If they were all the same price then he would be my pick, unfortunately I do not own a money tree yet.. rondofj
And Nick, whats wrong with Envy Imports? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/358039-nistune-tuner-in-sydney/#findComment-5722108 Share on other sites
N1GTR
You're going about this the wrong way. The lowest price isn't the way to find a good tuner. Good tuners can charge more as their time is valuable and they get the results owners want. Asking a tuner to lower their price is actually quite rude IMO, their prices reflect their work and customers get what they pay for Also think of this, how much time and effort would YOU give a job if you know you're not making much money from it compared to a job where the owner didn't come in and screw the price down? Yavuz can increase his prices and I'll still go there. adzR34
I've been going to yavouz for years and i have never had a problem with his tunning or work. The quoted prices are all relative if you consider the quality of the tune and time spent to get there. andymoocow
Yavuz can increase his prices and I'll still go there. i will happily back the above statement as well. been there many times for different tunes, each time I am so impressed with his quality of work and he is always happy to explain everything to the "technically challenged" such as myself. He is a master at what he does. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/358039-nistune-tuner-in-sydney/#findComment-5722697 Share on other sites
RB25PWR
Just ask yourself this. Yeah Yavuz might seem expensive to you, but if it's 'expensive' and people are still lining up outside the door. What does that tell you? It's all about the tune dude! Why you wouldn't be spending a sh*t load on that I don't know... Beer Baron
i've had my car tuned at envy recently (put a nistune in my silvia that previously had power FC) and I was happy with the work. they supplied the ecu, board and tuned it. I would also be happy going to UAS. i've had my GTR tuned there before (long time ago, before nistune, it was a power FC tune) and I was also happy with their work. i haven't been to the others so can't comment on them. bear in mind any workshop has it's happy and un-happy customers. I would speak to a few tuners and just pick whichever one you are happy dealing with. rondofj
hey steve your signature says u own a Supra TT - just curious, r they that MUCH better than a R34GTT ( I know the 2JZ is a lot stronger than a RB26, let alone a 25) - how do they go on the street if you have driven both with similar mods??? You're going about this the wrong way. The lowest price isn't the way to find a good tuner. Good tuners can charge more as their time is valuable and they get the results owners want.
