Cant go wrong with Yavuz, Ive even had him tell me he wasnt going to let me take my car home for another day because he was not 100% happy with a part of the tune over a 300 rpm rev range between 4000 and 4300 rpm...........no really

DVS32R did pm me, but as I do not know him, I'd rather have peace of mind getting it done at a reputable workshop, the tune determines whether your engine lives or blows - no offence to anyone in saying that, then again hes located in the central cost too..

u can try toshi? if u r after quick road tune, got mine done for $500 and he didn't do a bad job at all. He does seem do to a lot of RBs.

+1 on yavuz, all I've been hearing is good stuff about the bloke.

All tuners should be able to get the same results as each other.

No offence to the big mobs but some of them spend very little time on cruise tuning and fuel consumption. And just try and get that glorious number that everyone wants.

My vote goes for Yavuz. He has taught me alot and is the smartest tuner i have met

PMed Toshi, he seems good and so are his prices, and many happy customers - he mostly does road tune only - as my car is a daily driver thats never tracked, is a road tune only good enough for me?? I'm looking for response AND power, unfortunately the downside is u cannot measure power gains with road tunes..

Plus it can be dangerous, need a remote area / test bed... How do they road tune at max rpms - u drive at 7krpm on all gears??? Impossible, even in third at 7k rpm u almost hit 180km/h..

Hi Toshi, I should get my board tomorrow, looking at a tune next weekend maybe.

With the road tune, will you be able to tune in all gears up to 7000rpm?? How is it possible without driving extremely fast? Almost as good as in a dyno??

Same results on the entire map....v similar yes but that would take many many hours and $$$$$.

Toshi was good for me. You can't tune all gears up to 7000rpm, and you can't do it on dyno either. In some ways it is not as good as a dyno (harder to hear knock/seat of the pants MBT & no power figure), but in some ways it is better (real world conditions/part throttle).

Using both is how they do it for factory.

Hey Jez, by power runs do u mean measure the power (KW) gain before and after tuning?? I know you cant get power readings on road tuning of course. And 'tune for power on dyno' - what does that mean, can you not do that on the road, ie gain power by road tuning - without a paper readout of course?

it means, He tunes cruise in normal driving conditions, on the road, than once its on the dyno he tunes the top end of the map for power runs and than checks over the cruise on the dyno, it makes it cheaper for the customer and alot better!! the bigger workshops cant be bothered to do all this, they would rather just put it on the dyno get it roughy right, than tune power and hand you your paper sheet with the magic numbers.

Jez takes the time to tune it on the street under normal driving conditions, than puts it on the dyno to tune the top end, with is hard on the street when everything is happening so fast. Once its on the dyno, he loads the car up more than it would be on the street, If it dosent knock on the dyno under load, it wont knock on the street under load, And it also give alot better fuel econ

Its the diffrence between goin to a big workshop with a time slot for you, to have your car done in, or a person which puts in the effort to make sure everything is perfect, from idle to crusie to power, in norm driving conditions and under dyno load.

its the same way Just Jap gets there race car tuned, and id say alot of the Jap work shops would do it like this to....

Rondofj - in short terms tuning for maximum power on the street is a mix of seat of the pants feel and experience mixed with some guesswork. There is no real way to check an engines power on the street unless u were at the drags data logging continous runs and making adjustments.

Sometimes u road tune then put it on the dyno and u will find an extra 20-30kw.

Sometimes like 2weeks ago i tuned Sir Rb's Nistuned GTR on the dyno after previously road tuning it and we couldnt get any more gains over the road tune as it was already at its peak of 275kw 18psi.

I find its better to the dyno first, road tune second. Often there is knock on the road where there wasn't on the dyno.

    • Cleaner signal so timing is more accurate at all rpm also found it to start more on first rotation but could also be I've nailed prime and crank fuel. For under $400 and 30mins of your time, its a good solution especially once the optical sensor does start to play up you won't notice it until in higher rpm and it heat soaks.
    • On a 400hp RB, what benefits other than "it's not 30+ years old" are you seeing from the NZ Wiring Kit trigger setup? If it were me going to change triggering, my belief would be to go for a crank trigger to remove the issues caused by what people claim is belt stretch etc, but that's from my understanding a much larger issue for super high power, rather than those in the 400hp and below club.
    • The NZ wiring kit is a 1/3 the price and will be perfectly fine for your application, I've ran one for 6+ years and many others have. Comes as a full plug into factory connector and the settings for a Link. https://www.nzwiring.com/index.php/product/trigger-kit/ Always comes back to the tuners knowledge and experience with a tuning platform. It takes years to become proficient and learning all aspects and capabilities. I've been using Links for 16 years now (rb and sr paltforms) and always learning something new with adding tables, diagnostics and data logging. Stay 98 for the usability and keep it simple so you can enjoy the car more. With experience I'll give you a current example of the industry I am in. They use Motec m190 and only use VE tuning when they have a torque mapping available and would solve the "PARITY" issues that plagues the category all because the muppet doing the tuning doesn't understand the platform or want to learn it and the product seller have no idea on its full capabilities ( I had a good laugh as when firing up an older car that just got completed and they didn't understand the injector scaling or how to change it for different fuel being used)  
    • I'm sure there are specific hygrometers for it. But if you can just throw a high enough ranged temp sensor (theromcouple that came with your DMM, for example) into a pot of it on the BBQ, you can see when it boils.
    • I have multiple bottles in a shed that gets hot, and I'm in SEQ, so it's humid. Maybe we test their theory... Anyone have a system to accurately measure moisture content in oil?
