Safc II Or Aftermarket ECU..?

Recommended Posts

hey,

Car: r33 GTS-T (5spd)

Mods:

HKS Super Drager exhuast

HKS SSQ Bov

Aftermarket Turbo (unknowen what type possible highflow, bigger than stock but not that much)

AirFilter + CAI

R34 GT-T Cooler

Bleed Value

Extra Heavy Duty Clutch ($900 or so)

Running @ .6bar

ok now that is out of the way, my question is, is it worth buying a ecu or should i just buy safc II for the time. I would like to make 300 to 350rwhp out of my car (my end goal) so i was thinking that ecu would be the better idea in the long run.

saying that i am unsure of which ecu to pick from, I live in perth and i know of a 2 good tuning houses which can tune Wolf3d and have had good reason (e.g. SST r32 gtr running 10second 1/4). But some people having being tellin me that Apexi PowerFc is the way 2 go but i dont know anyone who can tune it in perth

so i am very  @ the moment

p.s after i pick ecu/safcII i will be buying a FMIC

Thanks Mike

edit: I have done a search and come up with general answer but would like some base on my car and it mods thanks

the reason people say power fc is that its plug an dplay and if you have epa problems you can jsut plug tour stock ecu in along with the other stock stuff.

power fc would be a good choice s-afc youwould spend your money twice. but would do the job .

the r34 cooler is bigger and more efficentthan the stock r33 one.

i thought the Wolf3D uses the factory sensors and is plug and play for the 33Ts.. Mikey, in the long run, the ECU would give u more control over the SAFCII in so many ways.. boost, timing, fuel, rotational idle, antilag etc as opposed to the SAFC which is basically a fuel computer..

the 34GTT core is thicker than the 33GTST stock cooler :P

i think you should get the FMIC in first, then have the ECU put in and tuned

Because you have asked this same question over and over and over again in the WA whoretown thread and I am sick and tired of giving you replies when you dont listen to the advice given.

rob, in whoretown it is not here or there, i just ask random , pointless question as the thread said it is whoring (i have stop that now). I now wanted info on ecu types and also befits on safc and ecu. im sorry but if u r sick and tired of me then just dont read my topics and reply in such a way that it is just a personal attack on me

So because its been said in whoretown it isnt valid? You need to get used to the fact that this is a forum and I can voice my own opinion.

ok after doing a search, on wolf3d i have come to the conuslion that it is the ecu for me, i just have a few question about stuff.

what is the knock snesor..? i read that u have 2 buy an add 4 wolf homuch does it cost?

and would it be wise 2 upgrade injectors and fuel pump after installing wolf?

You'll need to upgrade the fuel pump before the wolf goes on, as for injectors probably not, just get them cleaned and flow tested before pushing the engine, if 1 injector is down on flow it can blow the engine.

    • Yeah they sure are available for import now, its great news Matt, You need an import specialist insurer, nothing has really changed over the years about the mainstream insurance companies not touching them. I have my cars with Lumley (same group as NRMA etc) because they insure imports and have a good concept of "stable use" where as long as no more than 2 cars are being driven each day you can have them all on a good rate, I've also had no issues with claims through them. Note they won't insure a car if you take it to the track, even for an off track claim. Shannons are another option but I had a lot of trouble with their claims (they were happy to take the premiums, not so keen to pay out), and I'm sure there are other import specialists too
    • I'm a lifelong home drummer, was in a couple of bands as a teenager/early 20's then moved to Japan and didn't play at all until 2019 when my missus and I were invited to check out the band room upstairs at a restaurant cafe here in JP. They had a full acoustic drum kit and they let me have a bash for about 20 mins. I went away from there wondering how I could not play for 19 years.... Missus bought me a e-drum kit a few weeks later (Yamaha DTX402) which is basic but lets me play at home in my tiny Japanese house.  Also have an Epiphone Les Paul and little Vox amp and delay pedal I bought for the missus because she wanted to learn to play the guitar, but she never got into it. That was about 8 years ago. I taught myself to play some 80's U2 song riffs like the Fly solo, etc and some other things but being a drummer I don't really have the dexterity in the fingers lol. Ham fisted if you will. So I kind of just mess around with the guitar rather than try to seriously play complete songs. My son on the other hand inherited all my side of the family's musical talent and is a brilliant classical pianist at 16 years old. He'll go on to do something in the music industry here for sure once he finished his schooling. I got him a Yamaha NU1XA hybrid piano earlier this year.
    • If the BOV is plumbed in as mentioned, like stock.... why exactly would it stall? It'd be like stock. Do stock cars stall with stock bovs?
    • You mean a rich spike, as the air has been metered multiple times due to the turbulent air, you end up injecting more fuel causing a momentary dip in torque and quite possibly a stall event. TL;DR, install a Haltech Elite or S3 or R3, convert to DBW, throw all ancient shit into the bin and enjoy the car.
