bought a stack of wheels for an upcoming drift day (in the R33). a set of those were some 300zx stockies with decent tread. So they made their way on the Stagea haha. I'll get a pic later.

Stagea looks like this, these days.

It's rocking OEM Z32 wheels atm.

I might give it some attention now that the R33 is all f**ked up

Work out the fuel consumption, lower it and all that jazz would be nice.

Had a few people interested in it lately, I've just turned them away like a boss.

Every time I’m on the net, I’m always chatting to my man Benny. What Benny likes to do when he’s surfing the interwebs is look for wheels. He is probably the biggest wheel whore I know. I think he has like 3 sets and 4 pairs now or something.

Anyway, when we chat I always ask him to find me wheels for shits and giggles. He always manages to find dope wheels that tempt both of us to make the purchase. So last week we were doing our thing and he found a set of Super Star – Leon Hardiritt Waffe wheels on Yahoo, Ben sent me the link then saying “You’re going to hate me”.

600x449-2011113000003.jpg

I open the link, see some dope Super Star wheels in offsets that’ll work on both the Stagea and Skyline (with widebody). As for the price, let’s just say landed, you’d be hard pressed to buy a set of Rotas. Probably something unheard of with Super Star wheels to go so cheap. In saying that, they do need a bit of cleaning up/have some gutter rash.

Actually I did see a set of Leon Hardiritt Ordens (The best wheels ever!) in S chassis offsets go for a little more then these did. Mind you they tempted me so so bad and I probably would of gone with them if I wasn’t to go widebody on the R33.

The waffe wheels will probably be the Stagea’s new shoes for a while until I get my widebody rear guards on the R33. With that in mind, I went on a hunt for some coilovers. I then stumbled across these suckers.

Here’s hoping they get the Stagea nice and low to the pavement with minimal fuss. Now the wait begins!

Dayz bodykit all the way! keep it simple.

found a pic of the Stageas current guize.

Clean-Stagea.jpg

I sold the coilovers to a mate of mine, So the lolvo will probably stay stock for a little while longer.

This time last year, I was on the way home from Melbourne in le Stagea!

So with a years ownership of a wagon I'm:

determined to fit anything and everything on/in it

drive it everywhere

sleep in it

f**k, could live out of it

Stagea-WGNC34.jpg

A few weeks ago, I took a few photos of the Stagea at work. Ever since I bought the R33 I feel like I’ve neglected it.

Seeing that the tyres were rubbish, I bought some new ones and got a wheel alignment. It’s one of those things I should have done earlier but I’ve been so caught up with the Skyline, that it slipped my mind.

Last weekend I decided to give it a good wash too. For the first time in a year I finally clay-bared it. I’m glad I did, there were a lot of contaminants on the paint work!

Stagea-C34.jpg

After I’ve pampered the Stagea a little it throws a curve ball at me. The cluster decides to shit itself!

I noticed it after Benny, Julie and I went out for dinner. The water temp gauge was maxed, as was the fuel. RPM or Speedometer wasn’t responding properly either. Oh and apparently the car had suddenly travelled 999999kms.

As we speak there is a replacement coming from Japan, lets just hope the Stagea will continue to be a work horse, and not become a troll car.

THE WORK HORSE

Hover-craft.jpg

The Stagea’s new set of wheels have finally arrived in Australia. For those who don’t remember, I had ordered a set of Superstar – Leon Hardritt Waffe wheels off Yahoo auctions, via Jesse Streeter.

I’ve been trying to sell these wheels to help fund my Skyline’s build, but after test fitting them on the Stagea I don’t think it’s going to happen.

front-poke.jpg

I did a lot of trial and error on wheel fitments back when the Stagea was modified for the first time. I ended up fitting some 18×9/18×10 – +20/+21 wheels (the Wed’s that are currently on Julie’s S14) to it, only to find the fronts were sunken and the rears had too much poke. This is caused by Nissan designing extended rear subframes on automatic Stageas, they are 40mm wider than the manual versions (20mm each side).

Poke.jpg

It just throws it all out of whack, whereas the manual variants share similar track all round. Anyway, the conclusion I had come up with was that an 18×9 – 5 wheel would be perfect at the front, and something like a 18×10 – 4 would work on the rear, if you modify or change the rear subframe.

Waffe-fitment.jpg

However there is one last issue to worry about. The rear shock absorber setup doesn’t offer much clearance. So it’s almost impossible to fit anything wider then a 9.5 inch wheel, under a stock body Stagea. I learnt this the hard way and needed to have my guards flared to compensate.

front.jpg

think that the Waffe’s will be a perfect fit with a little bit of work. The fronts will be exactly the same as my second setup (9 inch -5), the rears I’m going to try dial in some camber, if that fails I’ll swap out the subframe.

I wasn’t 100% on these wheels when I first bought them, but after seeing them in person and on a car, I have really grown to them.

Leon-Hardritt-waffes-Stagea.jpg

With some low, stretch and camber the Stagea will look pretty epic. It won’t happen for a while though as my main priority is getting the Skyline up and running. Still we can only imagine how awesome it’ll sit.

Nice build thread, also good to see another s1 dayz kitted Stagea.. Have you had any problems with the side skirts, I've got basically the same Stagea as you, just a different colour. Is there a way of finding out that the stagea is dayz edition like on the VIN number?

Those rims look sweet, seeing all that barrel hanging out though reminded me a little of this:

Dont mean any offence though, both a silver car with a lot of rim to fit underneath, thats all.

Sold those wheels to fund the Skyline, re-rebuild. But I have decided to quit while I am ahead with the R33.

So that means I'll be doing my original plans with the Stagea!

~Full steam ahead, bring on Wakefield Matsuri!

Not that I know of dude, AFAIK DAYZ is an external company that supplied the bodykits?

I just bought a silver DAYZ kitted Stagea and Adam your thread inspired me to build mine up with the same stance as yours was... Thanks!

Good to hear! They can look amazing with a decent set of wheels and low.

Could you get the dude back to run the guard roller a bit further round the arch? They just look munted man.

I'll probably do it myself, just haven't been bothered (I used to be in the guard rolling game).

Grant's Stagea has been an inspiration to me, funnily enough I've delt with him for a few years. Back when I owned my MX5, he had purchased one in the US and all that jazz. I think he's still got it, has a V8 in it now though.. Crazy fella.

Oh yes, got some gear on the way from Japan.

Plan is:

OEM looking engine bay

bigger turbo + supporting mods to make a lazy 250kw (or thereabouts)

Good suspension

2 way LSD

manual

half cage (probably next year)

I'm hoping to be able to get everything bar the cage in the car before November. The Stagea will Re-debut at Raceline's Wakefield Matsuri. Can't wait to slide it again!

    • The hot exhaust light will come on not from just the cat being blocked, but it's just a temp sensor, and it's designed to warn you to not do things like park in long grass.   If you've been pushing the motor a bit, it can cause the light to come on.   Second if the cat is rattling, I'd suspect it's not blocked, but instead falling apart inside.   The easiest "fix" until you can get a cat put back in, is to unbolt your one, bash the rest of the insides out, and then bolt it back in.   For a daily driver/street car, I am in agreeance of put a cat in the car. If it were race car I wouldn't care if it were removed.
    • No worries at all 🫡 I think the most satisfying things to make are the little bits that are just impossible to find or they're no longer manufactured. Generally I always try to replace parts with OEM wherever possible. This little project is also great because it'll never see the light of day, but strengthen these brackets so it's not just relying on the little standard screws in the headlight plastic. As soon as I saw the standard brackets and screws I thought, "well I'm not going to install with just the screws, the plastic tabs will just snap off". It's crazy how expensive everything has become yeah. But I suppose that's supply and demand; granted it's a lot easier to get brand new genuine parts these days which is fantastic 😊, I don't have to get totally reamed at the local Nissan dealer ha ha We sure are lucky we have all these manufacturers making parts these days, a few really great Australian companies too like Platinum Racing Products and Fit Mint Automotive, what a time to be alive ❤️ . I've got my eye on the RB26 head by PRP as mine has a very fine hairline crack, so that'll need to be addressed some time in the future. If you have any requests or odd things to make feel free to let me know and I can have a crack at making replacement parts ✌️
