The evo guys love their turbos!

Pretty much all of the examples are from an evo

Well there are a few showing on RB's now and from the PM's i have been getting it looks like we will have plenty more results coming soon ;)

The turbo change made my car a different beast, i hope the others get the same positive results!

My ears are burnin!

It is tempting. Ideally I would copy Mat's setup to a tee (apart from all that boring ass black! ), but the funds are an issue :(

Haha stop picking on my black mr Bower Bird :O haha

Good news, went and spoke to Fulcrum or Carline or whatever they are called and they are fixing the arms today for me! Thank fark...

It's all about having the flashiest tail feather my friend! :P

Good thing about the arms, make sure they do it properly this time! Pretty poor effort last time, hard to believe they thought that was good enough to give back to you.

Well you do have a nice tail feather :whistling:

Yep was piss poor, i sent dad into pick up the parts as i was at WTAC so i didnt find out until the weekend, the manager there didnt seem too impressed when he saw the shonky work!

They are actually well used on GTRs, and Porsches in twin turbo form too... a huge percentage of the 8s GTRs running around run these turbos :)

I get my spares shop to do it for me, the dude is probably about 70 and it comes out pretty good for $15 a side.

I'm quite shocked a big name place did a shet job..

I was thinking a decent shop would do a good job for me so paid to have it done... Kind of regret it now :/

Yeah but those GTR's are also big $$$ R35's if i am correct? :P

How can someone even f**k up a bush install like that? It's not like the press comes down quickly. You'd have to either completely not be paying attention or see that you've f**ked up, not care and keep going anyway :S

I would guess its the second one mate! Its certainly shit quality work!

I have no choice but to get them pressed in further and just run them as is, the main part of the bush will be fine its just shitty that it was done so poorly in the first place!

I have had pretty good dealings through most of the build except for the assclowns at Bl@cktrack, and now this!

  • 2 weeks later...

I have not had time to update this thread and wont have time to do a proper update for a couple of weeks, but just so you know the suspension issue was sorted and the car was thrown back together... We test drove it down the street and found a nice spot for a couple of pics -

Not bad for a quick clean and random pic location!

I DID make the SAU NSW track day just in time, but i had some silly little gremlins... The car felt great when it was going and i can see it being a hell of a lot of fun once i fix some issues with it... The Cruiser towed it easily -

Passed Scrutineering no worries -

A dodgy pic from on track (A few good shots to come soon once Carmen sorts through them) -

The day was good but i couldnt get more than a couple of laps in, by the time the tyres were warm enough the engine bay seemed to be the same and goodbye silicon hose... At first it blew the cooler pipes off which was no big deal but after that it upgraded to blowing the silicon hose open -

I ran down to Plazmaman and grabbed another one and tried again, same deal... No good!

Such a silly little issue to have but it basically called the day over and done with... In saying that i got to go out and have a great time with a great bunch of SAU members!

I will get proper alloy piping done (Which honestly should have been done from the start) and get back into it.... It has caused a Vac leak of some form which i now also have to find.

This is just a quick video of the passenger session with Carmen in the car -

Sounded good on track.

Thanks mate! Dont think there is any video of it other than the Go Pro footage and it had the cover on it so not too much sound picked up.... Was good fun anyway :D

    • UPDATE: Hi all!  As we are getting towards the end of this thread where I’ll showcase final dyno numbers and graph, I wanted to provide an update. Tao from HyperGear has done an amazing job building the custom divided T3 housing for the G30. Communication was flawless, price was great, and now the housing is estimated to arrive in 7-10 days! Very very pleased. I must add, if someone is looking for an affordable turbo and end up reading this thread, I would recommend HyperGear. Genuine brands are the way to go as their proven reliability, predictable performance, and there’s a plethora of information available for specs, flow, and more. This HyperGear recommendation is based on their excellent communication, dedication, and willingness to listen to their customers. I particularly liked their ability to create custom adaptations tailored to specific needs, which is a HUGE benefit over other brands. And if we consider the HyperGear provided dyno results, it adds reassurance knowing their turbos can compete against genuine brands. Next update will be after the dyno!
    • I've previously seen people post up "dress up bolt kits" for RBs but don't remember seeing them specify the full contents. I can only really suggest you grab the verniers and start measuring, and keep in mind the cam cover and timing cover bolts are both quite specific with a wider unthreaded section where the bushes sit, that will make it hard to get aftermarket replacements which tend to be all thread (set screws) or for longer bolts a flat section with a shorter threaded section at the end
    • I believe there was a similar one posted by @duggyphresh. They were re-routing their battery positive cable in the way I am also trying to achieve. Sorry, I’m new to this forum, so was a bit late to the party by a few months and so reignited the old thread, as I wanted to know how they got on with doing it.
