Hi guys,

I have a R33 S1.5 RB25DET Manual that's giving me some grief trying to get the car running going. I bought it at auction and when I got it home I found that the ECU had been chopped out. After 3 looms I now have one that works.

I have checked:

  • Diags. It gives me a Code 11. CAS
  • Replaced CAS (tried 2 more), reset codes, check and get 55. All ok. Then crank and still get CAS code again
  • No Spark
  • Cant hear injectors pulsing when turning the CAS by hand
  • It has Fuel pressure
  • CAS has Power at plug
  • Coils have Power at plugs
  • Everything is plugged in besides ABS Unit plugs (Series 1.5 with Series 2 loom) and one down near the ECU. Pics here
  • Cranks over fine

Does anyone know what else to check?

Cheers,

Phil

Pull the plug off the ecu and cas. Check continuity at each end for each wire (at ecu pin out and at cas plug) by using a wiring diagram. then check for short to ground with each wire. Are the coils being switched? doesn't sound like coils or injectors would be pulsing if no signal from cas. If loom test up ok, and you have tried 3 cas' then it has to be ecu.

I was told it is a Series 2 Manual Turbo ECU. Ill get the part number off it tonight.

And Ill try those suggestions. Ill try and find part number on the ECU to Engine Loom too.

It cranks so I would assume its not the Auto Neutral safety switch. Ill double check anyway.

    • Steam valve seals are usually responsible for cold start smoke, it goes away once engine warmed up. Disconnect it let engine breathers and let it breath freely, see if problem goes away after a short drive. Also check to make sure engine oil drain pipe is not blocked or kinked.
    • Haha thanks! Yea I'm moving over from 2x 1000cc jets pre throttle over to 6x 190cc direct port jets and 1x 500cc pre throttle jet.  Direct port comes with all the advantages you would expect, except that pre throttle does cool down IAT'S more. That's why my direct port nozzle placement is closest to the plenum as possible in the runners to allow the air more time to cool before being sucked in. I'm also putting that one 500cc pre throttle jet to help with more cooling. It's a hybrid system. There's a lot more advantages to moving over to a PWM solenoid with a constant pressure system vs my old PWM pump setup, but I'll get more into that once I'm done converting everything over. The ricer in me is excited to see SS tubing all over my manifold though!
    • Very cool, see what I did there? 馃ゲ Wild WMI setup, first I've seen where it's on each cylinder runner, usually I see a single jet pre throttle.
    • Welcome mate. What type of work were you looking at getting done? Majorly of decent skyline workshops are in the SE.
    • Thanks mate, haha that's it ey, no more boosters and what not, should make for a good time
