Hey all

Just a quick one replacing my turbos soon as i have a little bearing noise from the stockers (15 yrs old after all) going with -9s, just getting some quotes as i dont have enough room to do them at home.

Best i have had so far is 800 and thats with same day completion and dumps replacement. Basically question is am i paying too much or know anywhere else i could get cheaper??

Thanks

Nick

Assume this is in low mount configuration twins on an rb26?

$800 is a bit of a bargain for that job, it's fiddly and time-consuming. It would work out to be a pretty low hourly rate for a workshop, even assuming they have done it before and nothing goes wrong.

Hell if someone here had offered to do it for $800 I'd have considered it carefully.

In terms of having room - because most people do turbo-swaps in-car, so long as you have a table or similar to stack the inlet pipes, not much room is required because you'll be working in the engine bay and the parts themselves don't take up much space.

A set of $200 ratcheting spanners pay for themselves just on this job alone. So long as you have big 1/2 inch drive sockets (and long extension for removing dumps) as well as good ring spanners, you could just spend the weekend doing it yourself.

But $800 is a good price. INteresting they've committed to doing it in a day...

What area are you from?

Sutherland shire

It may be in longer as its my tuner also so they will retune it

$800 is cheap as for a workshop.

if youve got the time, patience and small jap sized hands then you can do it easily enough at home.

hahaha hands arnt the smallest, time is the issue currently with workload

Just for reference got quoted by a friends workshop 1100 and 3days

When you say dump pipe replacement, do you mean new dump pipes? Stock or aftermarket? Is that included in the price?

Hey mate, give JEM in ingleburn a call, I'm pretty sure they do a cheap price on turbo install, plus you get a reputable tuner as well.

I would recommend Jap Link motors Haberfield, they will probably be able to do it cheaper + their Japanese mechanic has got crazy skills with cars.

Thanks guys

Ill probably stay with Pulse racing as they are my tuner and have helped me immensely already with my car (see this topic tune disappointment )

There workmanship is second to none just look at their time attack winning evo which has been developed more since last year :D
