Thats like a "L" plater in a 500kw GTR... dead man that just dont know it yet..

one question?

have you ever had an accident on a bike? I have, and I have seen my own friends lieing in hospital, they were awsome riders that had never had an accident... it only takes one and its GAME OVER...

good luck to you!

o.k firstly, the RS250 will line up against an R1 anyday and pull ahead, any of those bikes you had up here would be blown away by a 250, it is a 2 stroke and is one of the quickest bikes on the road, and by the sounds of you it is to big for you, so are these bikes, if you get pulled over kiss your car lisence good-buy, if you have one that is.

it is not the skill level of you it is other people on the road, you do not think this untill you have been run off the road and into a poll by a plumber like i did(i put a f**king big dent in his door might i add) when you start riding you get 1 point and if you lose 1 point on your car you lose your bike as well, then it goes p`s for about 1 year with 4 points, and again if you lose 4 points on your car then u lose you bike as well,

these are not toys, if you hit something in a car so be it if you hit something in a bike say goodbuy to an arm or a leg, or your life.

good luck matey, let us know when you are catching the train to work.

if you hit something on a bike even if you are on your l`s and are found to be riding a bike bigger then you should, u are ****ed, car lisence and bike lisence gone for 1 year at least. and insurance is also gone.

just to add

Look, Im not going to ride hit fast. I just want a bike that looks good that i will be happy when i look at it. Thats all. Not going to hit anyone or kill myself. If i wanted to go fast, I would drive my car. Is that really so hard to comprehand? Just thinking of buying another nice looking machine to add im the garage. thats all. Hence I never mentioned speed. More control and handling cos it looks pretty big to me.

Hey, I understand the feeling you have, I would be real nice to just jump on the bike and go for a spin, tee shirt and jeans.... They look real mean, honda or yammie and with a nice helmet, maybe tinted visor you'd be da dogs nuts. The biggest problem with this theory isnt you, your ability or even the bike. Its everyone else. Take it from someone who saw his dad killed on a bike not that long ago.

You can be the worlds best rider, go to work on da back wheel, endo at the lights, weave through all the gaps, but doesnt mean shit when old mate whos 75 and so arthritic he cant turn around to check his blind spot pulls in on you and you've got no options but turf it. I did the proper liscense training and time on my two fiddy (its alot longer now though..) and I feel that the time spent was extremely valuable. The most beneficial part was the pre rider training that is compulsory for L's. They dont teach you how to ride, they teach you how to make cars notice you, how to react, how to be aware. This is vital, especially in the city.

Id recommend, since you've got your heart set on the bigger bore, do the compulsory training at least, even if you dont go ahead and do the test....

By the way, 98-2000 model r6 are quite cheap now, and are great bikes. But the new kwack, Gix and Cbr are lookin mean!

And whose this guy sayin his 250 will smoke my R1? come over, I'll drag you any time mate... :)

Even though this R1 vs RS250 thing is off topic, I'll put my 2c in anyway. The RS250 will keep up with the R1 in the 0-100 race. The bikes are so quick that you have to worry about looping it before you can get all the power to the ground. But as for top speed, the R1 will shit all over the RS250. There is not enough capacity or revs in the RS to compete. As for quarter miles, I dunno. I would think it'd be more dependant on the rider as to which bike was quicker.

If you think about it JimX, the R1 can do 0-100 in just a fraction over 3 seconds, and lets say its good for 10 sec quarters, which it probably is. Its going to be doing at least 180+ when it goes over the 400m line, with plenty of steam left... the RS just wont compete with that up top. Your right about loopin it though.... specially that two stroke power ban!

I'll suggest it again, if you are looking for the most comfortable, controllable 600, then go for the Kawasaki ZX-636 . At least test ride one before you buy one of the others.....

Oh and:

-Yamaha build quality = average at best.

-Honda = wait and see how long your gearbox lasts (they've been building fast bikes for over 30 years and haven't yet got it right)...

I'm a biased Kawasaki man. But for a reason!

How old are you N/A ? Sounds like your not thinking things through. Do you have any kind of bike licence at all ? OR training ? As someone said in a previous post. the pre l's training is vital..

Ive though it through. I sold my S15 which was my daily driver. Now i have to drive either the 34 or gtr. I dont want to add kms on my 34 and i cant drive the gtr daily. So i need something just to get me to work and back at times. So i want a bike.

Maybe the 600 is to drastic but there isnt any nice 250's around. Plus they are so small. The CBR250 is tiny. RGV is ok but old.

The CBR isnt bad, not too small either, Im 6ft tall and 80kg and I get around on that fine, Although im just about to sell as my full licence kicks in, in about a month and im getting a GSX-R 750.. What about a CBR 400fi >?
