You can replace the top tank. I believe the part is about $120 plus labor.

Otherwise some of the other guys have opted for new radiators from ebay but these have required some modification to fit.

Good luck.

Cheers

Andy

My radiator did the exact same thing. I rang around and got a new one for about $400 it is exactly the same as the V35. Ithink it was a koyo radiator from memory. This was in adelaide from parafield radiators.

I would replace the whole thing mine was pretty blocked.

Just had the water pump shaft shear and th fan went balistic in the engine bay. It buggered the core. I had a rad with a crook top tank. Had the goodish top tank fitted on the spare rad but there was a small crack in the tank. Red Devil at Ashmore fixed it with an epoxy patch. Neat and inexpensive.

Thanks guys for those imputs . I will try the Mishimoto job for the G35.Who has fitted ones of these and what dramas are involved?

thanks Brett

Brett,

I think Scott in Melbourne fitted one of these to his car and there were a few fitting issues. If memory serves correctly there was a bit of trimming to be done to make this fit.

Cheers

FYI the V35 radiator is NOT a bolt in option. youll need to cut some of the reo around the radiator to make it fit. also need to trim the fan shroud. a hacksaw will be fine. the reo material is easy to cut!

not a massive job, but i have one in my car. pipe outlets and cap location are the same.

A lot of trimming of the fiberglass front to fit the Mishimoto, and I took a heatgun to the airbox too. I didnt bother trying to fit the shroud.

Looks good though and they are twin pass rads so work extremely well. I noticed one end of the top tank was cold and the other hot just the other day.

I dont know where you got your v35 one from but mine went straight in. All the mounts were in the same place.

Unless the 2.5L and the 3.5L are different in the v35 series. Then I guess I got the 2.5L one

ok its possible you got a 2.5L one. never thought of that, sorry!

i believe i have a 3.5L manual in mine. it just doesnt have the transmission loop in the bottom.

ok then be aware a V35 radiator MAY not bolt in :P

Ok Im taking the plung and Ebaying a Mishimoto radiator and while Im fitting that I wii install the 715mm wide intercooler.I presume others have fitted large intercoolers but what happens to the aircon electric fan ?

How'd you go with the radiator?

I'm looking to buy a Mishi as well (3.5 Coupe) and was seeing if there was any fitment issues you had?

Lol really don't want to hack into anything.

The radiator saga ends on a good note where I fitted a KOYO twin core radiator .The unit bolted straight in & in conjuction with a auto trans cooler mounted behind the factory intercooler all is good .After a round trip to Coffs Harbour & no heat attacks I can now move onto the task of fitting a bigger intercooler & then Imight be ready for some strocking.

    • I would paint match the whole thing to avoid unwanted attention  I had a similar bonnet, paint matched, on my old R33 GTST, but mine was a fibreglass jobbie made by Blitz in QLD, they work extremely well for radiator efficiency and under bonnet temps

    • small update time, after always wanting a "cool" looking bonnet for my car and always struggling to find one for the series 2 that i liked and wasn't an insane amount of money. Saw one i liked on RHDjapan from D-speed in Japan the price was very good for a carbon bonnet so good infact i was a little unsure how much i trusted it, decided to bite the bullet and with the help of jesse streeter in not long at all it was at my door. Once it was delivered i ran in from work and quickly unboxed it and to my surprise the quality was actually pretty good i quickly removed the old bonnet and placed on the new one to test it out and even the fitment wasnt too bad at all. Then decided to paint the little grille in the bonnet black to stop it sticking out so much.   I decided to not mess around with the hood latch and just install some aero catch hood pins, having never installed them before did some YouTube university classes and i was good to go. fair to say it is not a fun job at all from making brackets so the pins sit nicely and actually cutting through the bonnet but also being very scared of cutting the holes too big it took wayyyy longer than i would like to admit but finally got it there. Then it was time for a quick test drive to ensure the latches actually worked and thankfully the bonnet looked very stable. I still think paint matching the bonnet and leaving just the part that sticks up as carbon would help make it all look alot neater as im not sure how i feel about all that carbon on a very fridge white car but will leave it as is and see how i feel with time.
    • I think it's bound to happen, you finally get it all perfect, and bam, something will happen. I took a while to get a Commodore rear quarter repaired where a P Plater clipped it. Two days after getting it back, Sarah wiped it out on a concrete pillar in an underground car park... This is why I take forever to repair them, it stretches how long until it gets bent again... 😛
    • Nah, not really responsible for that little fiasco, but I'm still pissed at myself for writing off my 86, or when I reversed my VX into a pole just before selling it, but, meh, 5hit happens to stuff, all it takes is a slight distraction, and life is full of distractions, and "dooh" moments
