LOL HBF - $880 per year

then I rang suncorp....she punched in the figures and told me it would be $18721.69c per year and would I be using credit card to pay that........

I asked her to double check and she said that was a correct figure......guess some people are a little delusional about prices!

I got one or two quotes like that. gave me a friggin heart attack!

yeah, $8k/year.

huh? are you sure? wanna check that?

yeah, that's right. imports are expensive to ensure. plus, you cant drive it on the roads. or park it. anywhere.

just have it, and look at it.

:devfu:

  • 2 months later...

Has anyone else been reamed by HBF lately.

Got my insurance renewal in the mail. I now have maximum no claim bonus since last year, which should reduce it further, and I'm a year older yay cheaper again! ....and get this... my premium WENT UP!

I tried EBM Insurance but they don't insure imports to anyone udner 25 anymore! (WTF)

Who else has a good deal on insurance they want to share? (and no, Just cars don't do monthly payments!)

Well if you are 26 and over you fall into the insurance companies "we love you guys at that age category".

I was with famous cars up till last month being 24 i was getting full comp insurance for 2K including mods (upgrade turbo, mags, exhaust, stereo etc) on 20K agreed.

My friend exactly the same car with similiar mods but 30 years old he's getting covered for $900 talk about me getting screwed.

Now i am with Just cars paying $1300 including the mods.

If I had straight standard GTS-T 95 Series II it would only be $1000.

SO if you have a standard skyline and are under 25 i recommend Just cars.

i work for an Insurance Broker in the city and I just recently tryed to obtain insurance on a 32. i tryed no lie 11 companies,.... i had to go to the Insurance Inquiries and Complaints Board and you can tell them im a ie: Male, 22 with an Import - and they can give u the numbers of which insurers will cover you. They gave me for the details above about 4 numbers.... now i tryed all 4 out of that 2 companies said no. One other said Yes but they must return the suspension back to normal ride height and return it to a stock turbo. (would not cover upgraded turbo)

I ended up trying Just Car Insurance and found that they are of the better option. the Premium combined with state charges and levies came to $2,015.00 which isnt that bad really...

its only going to get harder as the media and other ppl drum up the idea of the "street racer image" and cars of this power and stereotype keep on crashing... the parts are also harder to get. (insurance companies take the hard way around things)

I might be able to get cheaper rates becos i know a few ppl so if anyone wants to give it a crack just PM me and i can give it a shot.... I can also get lower excess's and stuf.. also help explain some of the terms and conditions...

:)

Well its either save the money on insurance with one hit and then spend the savings on mods instead of getting reamed.

Just cars is cheaper for me... only they don't allow you to pay monthly (big lose)

and I dont have a spare $1k lying around... well... I do for mods, but not greedy insurance companies :D

    • Hi All, I'm based in Sydney and want to get hold of 4 stock R34 GTT wheel caps as pictured. Cheers
    • Haha im flattered! Although my poor boat is collecting dust in the garage, as it hasn’t been driven in like 6 months. I forgot the to put the trickle charger on too, so the battery is likely toast now.. I have the frenchys kit. It is fantastic. My only gripe was that the hard lines from the firewall needed some tweaking, however, this was mainly due to my specific turbo and dump combo. The weight and size packaging is much nicer too. I think I have some pics on my build thread somewhere.. my justification for the kit was more “why not” I had gone to the trouble to modernise just about every other part of the car..
    • Actually, ethanol has probably never been cheaper, on a tax free basis, than petrol. With fuel excise being what it is, and only being levied on the hydocarbon component, not the ethanol component, and ethanol for non-drinking purposes not being subject to liquor excise - E85 was cheaper, but not because the combustible liquid itself was particularly cheaper.
    • Maybe? If changing the cat to a higher flowing cat, caused the turbo to spool more quickly, and those areas of the map had not been tuned for the boost level it is now seeing, then yes you would need a re-tune. How dangerous it is running without the updated tune would depend on how far out the tune is with the now higher boost levels, how the engine protection has been setup, is the ECU compensating with a wideband sensor, is the boost control closed loop blah blah million other things... But yeah having said that, I wouldn't be surprised if changing out the cat for a high flow, in say a full 3" exhaust, made no noticeable difference at all.
    • Ah yep. I asked a auto electrician about getting a cheap rebuilt alternator vs a new one. He also said he used to it back in the day but it ended up costing similar to what a new one would and recommended getting a new one,.
