33GTRV
hi guys. After bieng repeatedly ripped off over the last few years in regional queensland, i think its time to look into trying efi tuning myself. Now, i have an exceptional knowledge of all things auto, well, nearly all as im a TQ mech, but ive been away from the trade for quiet some time. I want to know if any of the brains here know of a tuning course or someone willing to have me sit in on thier time with them as a scholar. I find it hard to justify paying 2k for a tune then the "minimum fee of 750 dollars" to have the car seen to every time i change something. Exceptionally frustrating to say the least. so, if you know of something, please post away or if you would like to keep it discreet you are welcome to pm me. Cheers, allan Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/359141-efi-tuning-coursesprograms-in-qld/ Share on other sites

Cheers, allan Good auto knowledge coupled with some good resources on the net, you can be doing basic tuning easily I reckon. There's thing that you can't really do on the street like playing with ignition timing - you need a dyno to measure power to find MBT timing. Buy yourself an Innovate LC1 wideband kit, mine works flawlessly, people suggest other brands though. Laptop + .tuning software + data logger you can pretty well tune your car. not that hard. cruising: 14-15, 0psi: 12-13 boost: 11-12. for cold start you'll need about 15-20% more fuel, then it's just a case of setting rev limiters, idle things, accel pump and thermo controls, all easy to pick up. well, that's what I did anyway Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/359141-efi-tuning-coursesprograms-in-qld/#findComment-5736732 Share on other sites
33GTRV
thanks for the links and tips. I have called motec and they will call me back regarding a course in qld, depending on interest of course. I am waiting on a wb kit to show up and am trying to deal with the local shop to see if i can hire thier dyno but they do not seem all that keen Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/359141-efi-tuning-coursesprograms-in-qld/#findComment-5737757 Share on other sites
