yeah inside wall at T1 is a doosy. russ went in there in the 32 for a big one. my mate rob wrote off the GT3 cup car there too. all the big acco's i've seen at EC are inside wall T1. saw an A1 GP car crash there and just about drill through the wall into the infield he hit it that hard (they are flat through T1 at around 250km/h+). it's a nasty spot to fk up... :(

I think if the ARDC could excavate more land and make room for a tyre barrier on the inside wall of turn 1, it would save alot of cars being written off and also alot of broken bones and concussions.

I too have seen too many cars and people broken hitting that wall.

My brother was driving the Turbo PRB Clubman done a PB of 1:39.1

Still need to do some more things to keep up the pointy end of the field still, this will be done late this year ready for next year to shake up SV and become the fasted clubman only .4 seconds of that now and not using slicks.

What mods can we do to go faster next round? The challenge is set.

Suggestions welcome..

Free mods:

Seat time - practice makes perfect

As much front camber your suspension allows.

Any extra weight you can pull out.

Cheap mods:

Plywood front splitter

Not much else I can think of without spending a bit of money e.g. frp/carbon hood and boot, camshafts, retune etc..

havent been able to get to one of these yet due to other commitments.

hopefully soon though. I think i need to have my car log booked as its not registered. if i turn up without it being log book for my first time, do you think they would let me run anyway?

That's a tricky one. Best thing is to call the Chief Scrutineer for the series: Kerry Butchers on 0412 718 135. He'll be able to confirm.

When I first rocked up at beginning of 2009 series, I didn't have a log book and they let me run for the 1st time. I then organised a log book inspection with the scrutineer to be carried out at the next round to get my log book.

So it is possible.

It's just of recent times the scruitineers have been so anal about anything and everything that I can't say for sure they'd allow it now.

Some of the things they have been picking on at scruitineering:

Checking gloves to ensure they meet the FIA 2000 standard - we aren't required to wear gloves at a supersprint level. Even though I think it's a good idea to wear gloves, it's not a requirement so I don't know why they hassle people over it.

Checking driving suits to ensure they meet standards - we only have to wear non-synthetic ankle to wrist clothing at supersprint level. Again going over the top.

Checking that all four tyre valve caps are present and secure. They won't let you out on track without them.

Harness's that are mounted from the bottom rear seatbelt mounting points - even though I think it passes the 40 degree angle from the drivers shoulders, the scruitineers don't like it and most probably won't let you run. This one happened to my brother and he told them he'll just wear the standard seatbelt instead.

All suction cup devices such as camera's, performance boxes, gps's etc are banned. Whether they are mounted outside or inside the car.

Whilst I understand they are doing a job to ensure a high level of safety, sometimes they get carried away!

Just giving you the heads up so you know what to expect.

How about a group buy on a custom trailer that we can all share hoping that our track days don't clash! Watch to gloves come off for that argument,..!

Anything has to help us poor bastards on the povo!

Simple answer is NO, not road registered will need a CAMS log book, to many exhaust shops building cages that don’t comply with CAMS and are unsafe.

  • 3 weeks later...

Will be running AU at Eastern Creek this weekend 18th and 19th June, with a splash of orange on the front - new box not direct fit, so have to put up with rattly one for this weekend

Good luck to those going to Wakefield Supersprint,

By the way as far as the SI's complaint list goes - this was not directed at anyone in particular, it was to my opinion eligability would chip a few concerned in 3 classes with regards to aero, but anyway for those that can't read the rules, I personally dont give a F^%$ anymore. Maybe, some should look over there shoulder as to where the complaints come from!

So yes I bought it up with the panel, seems everybody else knows more about this than I do.

We have not been privaleged enough to receive a response from the panel as yet - but it is quite apparent that a few don't like Schedule A, B and F of CAMS manual. Feel free to correct me, if entrants of CAMS supersprint don't have to comply. (Its not superlap rules its CAMS NSW / Aus Title)

Cheers

Well I am pretty out of the loop, like a lot of people I stopped following this in the last year due to random rule changes. But Scehdule F has been ignored for 3 years now so it's not new. Nor was A, B or C followed at the last "national" supersprint (or CAMS classes for that matter).

I do know you are not alone in having an issue ignored, the last person I know who sent a written concern to the same committee is still waiting 12 months later.

It seems CAMS and their commitees are once again demonstrating their ability to destroy an successful series.

BTW Superlap also do not have the right to ignore schedule A, B and C as long as they run under a CAMS permit. They clearly start "All cars in competition must....". Superlap needs to run under a CAMS permit because they want international cars, and CAMS are the only certifier for race imports.

CAMS categories are a joke.

Super lap categories are an even bigger joke being run under CAMS.

Every open car is realistically a sports sedan but we can't take a sports sedan to WTAC cause the engine is in the wrong spot.......

But sports sedans have limited aero yet WTAC can have anything......

There is no CAMS category it's just made up rules. Being run under a CAMS permit.

SL needs to get onto cams and have type 6 added to logbook "time attack" cars as a recognized vehicle.

Ends all the stupid protesting about SVD and type 4 aero in state sprints too. They become type 6 with unlimited aero and "time attack" rules.

Would also give the billion time attack cars being built somewhere to compete yearly other than WTAC, and bring some cars to state grids.........

Wishful thinking but meh I had a rant.

Are all unregisteered vehicles at superlap required to have a CAMS logbook?? Or are they turning a blind eye and hoping nothing goes wrong??

Remember the says when you rocked up with a 20grand skyline. When you beat someone's lap time they'd come over and shake your hand say congrats then put on a game face n go out trying to beat your time again........

What happened......

Anybody going into sprints (a category invented for rego'd cars) should realise there is a big grey area (cams vs rta vs sprint rules). It's not perfect; how many cars in the SV paddock would technically comply with rta or compliance? i would hazard a guess 0%! And who cares. Like i've said many times if want more defined rules stop your bitching go to a dedicated motorsport category. Calling people out in sprints is lame and it's like shooting fish in a barrel really. Only seems to happen when people are breaking records though...
