Abs? Noise When Cold

Did a search, but apart from an unanswered question from win4ever some time ago...

For some time now, when I start the mighty V35 and drive off i hear a noise from the engine bay driver's side - I believe it's the ABS - and it's like a 'whoosh'. If I'm hitting the brakes at the time I get massive brake fade for a moment, so I assume it really is the ABS, then it's OK. It's irritating, because I park in a multi-story car park at work, and generally it happens while I'm going down a down ramp.

Any ideas? Something I should book in to see a Nissan dealer about?

I have the same situation as your V. I can hear the noise come from somewhere when you first start to drive the car. I think it should be the ABS try to built up the vacuum.

It's normal.

Just an ABS check.

We all get it.

If you start your car and drive off quickly you wont even hear it.

OK - thanks.Just a worry when I'm driving down a ramp toward another car and the brakes fade... Matter of giving it some time to let it do it's thing first, I suppose.

Yep I have it to, more like a slight shudder/vibration but has not been an issue other than annoying noise. I had heard somewhere, maybe an old post that it can be fixed but I know alot of us have this.

Not sure that you would want to "fix" it.

It is the ABS system doing a self test. Should occur between 10-15 kph.

Perfectly normal.
