Can anyone step me through how to remove carpet so I can check for water intrusion?

Also how to check if the AC drain pipe/roof drain pipes are clear?

The moisture in the front passenger seat area seems to be directly over the dump pipe? The basically very warm there, and moist...

easy. remove seats, front and rear. remove all trim around the edge of the car, ie the doors. remove centre console.

then you should be able to get the carpet out if you need to.

i have a spare carpet you can have, pity youre in melbourne because its going in the bin

yup thats water for sure! if it was coolant youd smell that much of it.

check all door seals, window seals, do you have sunroofs? check the drains for that. you may need to remove the roof lining. to get that off youll have to remove the top half (the lighter coloured) of the interior trim. undo the bolts that hold the seatbelts on, the trim should just pop off. the fronts are VERY trick, but not im possible.

I don't know man...can the air con drainage make it THIS wet? And this is just from using the defogger intermittently...

I recon it could put that much water into your car. I know that I get a fair size puddle under my car when I park it let alone when I am driving it.

lol...after spending the last 2 days in this car I come to the internet to find some new carpet and find this thread. ..

so heres the story.. Somebody has drilled a huge hole in the firewall and not plugged the hole (looks to be part of the gas system wiring)..It also looks like they have managed to drop a screw under the battery tray that has made its way into the drain plug under the fusebox in the battery tray and it was enough to block it s well...soooo when it rains water floods down the windscreen, into the battery tray and through this hole straight under the carpet...I ran a hose down the window for maybe a minute..the battery tray was half full and the there was a waterfall coming into the car through here...

its currently drying out, the carpet is basically ruined despite my efforts to clean it...all the underfelt is mouldy and being replaced..

If anyone knows where we could get some replacement carpet or at least maybe some mats to cover the stains would be appreciated...

I feel sorry for ironpaw having to live with this stinking mess for over 2 years now...don't worry mate she will be good as new in a few days ;)

here's a teaser pic of a nice clean wheel and caliper :D...

Good to hear mate, shame about the shoddy wiring from the gas install, he should hit them up for replacement carpet imo.

Why didn't they simply run it through the large oem grommet?

Not sure if I have any carpet on the wreck, I don't remember seeing it, the tan would look like balls in that car anyway. Perhaps find a carpet molding mob to make it?
