Definitly wasnt impressed with gt5 and after a few hours i was just plain bored. havent played it since and i have no intentions of playing it again. Forza 3 on the other hand has been a hell of a lot of fun and forza 4 should be a continuation of that.

Should be good!!!

I totally agree. I bought a ps3 when GT5 came out. I was expecting so much considering they spent agessss making it.

What did I get?

The game was pretty much copy paste from GT4 MINUS some stuff. The tracks are all 2d (as in the trees and such on the outside). The only innovation was the cockpit view.

GT5 is boring, all you do is buy a car, install modification 'packages' which offer little to no control, then you drive your car around the same old tracks, in the same way you did in the previous installment. Very unhappy with it.

edit: Not to mention 9/10 cars dont sound like they should, prime example: Classic US muscle cars sounding like honda civics I KID YOU NOT.

and what exactly did you expect to happen? were you expecting to get given the cars, already modded and then race them round like boats? i can garantee you that if you found that aspect of gt5 boring then you will find the next installment of forza boring as it will simply be a jazzed up version of the previous one.

as for the sounds, maybe you need to get a better surround sound system as well as use the rear view of the car. sure they aren't 100% spot on, but they are a lot better than the previous versions and many are true to life for the situation they are in. i'm sure plenty of you would be disapointed by the sound of a stock skyline on the game reving up near the rev limit, however i'm sure most of you would also be disapointed by the sound of a stock skyline reving up near the limiter in real life as it wouldn't have the same growl as what most of us are used to, having aftermarket exhausts. the same goes for US muscle cars. many of them sound terrible with their stock exhausts.

I think what he's saying is that the car sounds in Forza are far better than GT5, which I agree with.

in all honesty though, if someone buys (or doesn't buy) a game purely based off sound then that's a bit on the stupid side.

on complaining about what gt5 is like, i knew what gt5 was going to be like before it even came out. it was going to be like all the others but with new stuff, which is what i wanted. the same could probably be said about forza as well. how many forza fans would be happy if the new one was completely redesigned with a more arcade style handling so it was like playing one of the old need for speed games? i'm guessing that none of the diehard forza fans would be happy. any series of games keeps its fans happy by not changing too much.

lol at the forza/ GT5 comparo starting again......2 different games, 2 different platforms.

and if you had a decent sub/sound system you would realise that the cars in GT5 actually sound dam good. (not great...but a V8 def sounds like a rumbling V8) and the Mclarens and some of the other super cars....just sound like sex on a stick

still think forza should come out on PC...and still wondering how the Xbox is gonna keep it that pretty and smooth at the same time.

I'm looking forward to F4 personally, I've got the previous three in the series and I keep going back to them, I think they nailed the physics pretty spot on...IMHO what's missing is:

Backfires

Night racing/weather

Flames coming out the exhausts occasionally/smoke

Beefier engine sounds

Other than that, it's my fave racer atm

definitly agree!! I love the idea of having a race start as clouds are rolling in but you never know if its going to rain or just get overcast and change the whole race because of it. I think the forza games are spot on to what i want in a racer and i hope they continue pulling me back in to play more.

No, I expected a better experience when modifying the cars.

And as for the sound system, I am very well covered in that department, the display doesnt really affect the true sound of the engine sounds in game, almost all cars sound incorrect. I find the engine/exhaust sounds of the Forza series to be alot more realistic.

New ad with Clarkson. Call me a softy but I actually had tears in my eyes after watching this because it's so true.... I don't need to see how the game is going to be TBH because with thinking like that it's going to be epic. I never though I'd say this but I think for true enthusiast racers, the torch may have been passed.

Make sure you go full screen with HD

www.gamespot.com.au have just reviewed it and gave it an 8.5, they reckon the game is going to be more like a Forza 3.5 than Forza 4, because it features the majority of the Forza 3 content but very little extra in the way of cars and tracks (the important stuff) :(.

Might be hard to justify getting this one at the moment.

Forza 3 was a fairly complete game in itself, so will be interesting to see what they add.

I really dig all the clarkson/top gear stuff though :)

EDIT: Just played the demo, its fun!! Ferrari 458 does epic slides. Graphics are a bit better than 3. Pretty limited demo though. I will buy it!

    • H2 (for cars) will never happen. It's not reasonable for any number of reasons. It's also not reasonable for almost all of the industrial uses that the fanbois say that it will be used for, again for a large number of reasons. There are some cases where it will be good. But, even those will be massively hampered by the economics. The only way that H2 can be economic is if we somehow manage to get from where we are to the other side of the economic-valley-of-death in which no-one can operate. You need there to be sufficient renewable generated electricity to be available so that it is effectively free. Once you are there, you can do whatever the hell you want and hang the efficiency. But until you get there, the ever diminishing value of electricity makes it harder and harder to encourage businesses to build the new generation capacity, and they will simply stop investing in generation projects. (I kinda think there needs to be just government money spent on building the required capacity in a non-commercial way, similar to how the first fossil fueled grids were built, as national-government owned utilities. And probably some nuclear in there to start. But this all should have started 10-15 years ago to avoid the chasm of death that we face right now). Synth fuels will be much more likely, but will only occur is there is at least some renewable H2 production, because you need H2 to do it. And you need stacks of free (or at least extraordinarily cheap) energy because assembling molecules back into fuels is exactly the opposite process to burning the fuel, and the reason we burn fuels is because there is so much energy squeezed into each molecule. So you're somewhat subject to the same economic valley of death problem as above anyway. That is unless people are willing to pay the current equivalent of $5 or $6 per litre of petrol-ish liquid fuels. Can you imagine it? The squealing at $2 now is bad enough.
    • This is so cool. Get a dashcam that records audio and hopefully you'll catch it.  Maybe there's a brand or some kind of markings on the back ? Are the pics hand drawn? I love it so much.
    • Hahaha yep, point(s) taken. I just like seeing different things and an EV in an R32 is pretty different. I'm not on the EV band wagon, I'm waiting for synthetic fuels or hydrogen personally.
    • I mean it's probably likely that people overestimate their skills in dialling in a setup and noticing the changes. I had SK shocks and springs, and added heavier springs and got them revalved by Sydney Shocks to suit based upon what I told them I wanted the car to handle like. I got back a completely different feeling set of shocks, which probably (?) feel great on track but holy hell are they rough on tram tracks and the like. The shock dyno actually looks pretty similar to Shockworks (from what I can surmise from a screenshot of a youtube video - and my dyno printout...) Truth be told I doubt I'd be any faster or slower with either setup, or camber/castor combination. I also had whiteline eccentric castor bushes up front of my R34. I removed them and put in poly non-adjustable ones to soothe my OCD (nobody ever set the castor the same side to side, and it'd be near impossible to do) and be happy the wheel is centered in the well now for clearance reasons. Yes I wanted it to move 1mm 'back' :p I've effectively set my castor back to stock, negating all the benefits of that which is supposedly massive. I've probably also altered toe and camber in a negative (detrimental) way. I can't tell any difference steering the car.
