Johny Bravo
They can do that? What a shit state to live in. You should get it tested somewhere to see how many db it is making and they tell them to shove it. Thats if its below 90 of course. pistol-pete
if you can somehow prove the date is wrong you should be able to get the defect lifted Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/359788-my-turn/#findComment-5745266 Share on other sites

leer34
i want to know aswell , i was thinking someone must of dobbed me in but if they called the cops they would come not send a epa??? yeh? not the case mate..3 complaints from ordinary citizens or one complaint from a police officer or ranger and ur gone...i argued with them at length about it when i was issued with a notice because the notice was for about 8 months before i even owned the car...not alot you can do about it mate..they just say that once its on the books only way to have it cleared is to have it tested Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/359788-my-turn/#findComment-5745594 Share on other sites
leer34
What's an emissions camera?? they just record the decibel level of cars going past..know idea how they determine which vehicle the noise is coming from..i only know of 2, on on the m5 or m4(whichever one goes to chullora) and there as one on the big downhill section into wollongong, i think they were mainly for trucks though? timr32gts
yeh im going to just get it tested and cleared, is there anyway u can find out how u got done ?? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/359788-my-turn/#findComment-5745637 Share on other sites
leer34
if you can get the parts easily enough and ur car isnt heavily modified, changing to a standard exhuaust or somthing nice and quiet is the best option.. theres a few threads about these inspections, so should have all the info on what u can and cant get away with.. coz even if you only get done for dB level, they still do a full inspection, under the bonnet and up on the hoist. yep, if you ring up, they have to tell you where and when you got done and whether it was by police, or some randoms or whoever dobbed you in, obviously they wont give away names but Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/359788-my-turn/#findComment-5745887 Share on other sites

leer34
i thought we voted for the solution last weekend.... they want us all to drive white camrys! sometimes i wonder why i dont even a pod on a turbo car may make enough noise to get you into trouble too...that is their latest reason for why pod filters are illegal... from what ie been told by the technical officers at the DECCW you do not even have to be pulled over. as long as they get your rego plate and can say where and when they saw you, you have to go for an inspection anyway. ( unless you have a repco dB tester and then your in the clear ) Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/359788-my-turn/#findComment-5746813 Share on other sites

leer34
repco db tester FTW!!! haha the perfect gift for any import driver..imagine the look on the cops face when they say ur car is too loud and you're just like, "well, i beg to differ" and you can proceed with confidence to prove that ur car is below 90dB, before getting pepper sprayed Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/359788-my-turn/#findComment-5747029 Share on other sites
