Bugger... not going to be back by then.

If it's a regular thing- I'm well keen after May.

Justin.

Judging by the amount of interest we got I think we might have to make this a monthly thing!

@TJ, What's there to do on your car to get it going the way you'd like?

Just bought my first skyline on the weekend. Got it home and it misfiring at bout 4500 rpm. Changed spark plugs tonight to find plugs were surrounded by water obviously from where last owner wasn't using coil pack cover. Gave it a squirt to see if new plugs made any change and it seems to of improved to a more croaky note than a misfire. Got home and engine was that hot it smelt like something was burning, and a something near the ignitor sounded like it was sparking.

So I basically want this running cleanly with no misfires or overheating before heading to the track.

coilpacks?

I havn't seen a general thread get so big so fast in the Tassie section for a while.... nice one.

Maybe we should alternate a track day with a working bee day every month??? Or even on the track days, everyone who needs a hand brings they're trucks down for some advice and help???

Just a thought?

Cheers

yeah, id check coil packs and gapping of plugs, also if its getting really hot, check for air locks in coolant system, mine did similar with heat when i dropped a 2nd motor in :-)

Just had compression test and it came back clear in all cyclinders. Have my coil packs taped up.

Have 2 vacuum hoses that should be replaced aswell as a vacuum hose to brake booster that has been done with heater hose(after engine runs, it sucks hose shut!)

Gave it a crack on way home and blew a hose so will get a clamp put on that hose in morning and try again!

sounds good :)

I'd be up for a working bee bi-monthly definitely, wouldn't really have any technical skills to bring to the table atm but am happy to be an extra pair of lifting/holding hands and try to learn :P

If these track days were a regular thing I reckon a fair motoring community would build up around them at an entry level, which would be awesome :)

This sounds like a great idea so you can count me in. If I can get my 31 sorted out before then I'll come out for a lash if not I'll just come out to look but making it a regular thing I'd definately be interested especially once the GTR's running.

Yeah I'm pretty sure it's going ahead.

Toffy's got the track all booked.

Not sure how much it's going to cost, is it like $120 each or $120 for the track for all of us? I'm a little confused about that.

Last time I was out there for a private track day I paid to sign up to the Hobart Sporting Club and then to go on the track (so did everyone else) so it was everyone paid individually cant remember the price but it was around the $120 -$140 mark. And it was per car too I think cause one of my friends paid to take his bike out then wanted to take his SS ute out after and he wasn't allowed.

    • I believe Unimog is the only vehicle that has it (from the manufacturer). I haven't seen aftermarket permanently connected kits, but I haven't looked either.
    • Ha ha ha, can't overthink when exhausted... Oh how I wish I had that power! I can be absolutely dead set shot, and my brain will still go "we need a good 3 or 4 hours to just think about everything and anything before you may sleep... My biggest thing is making sure I give myself enough sleep. I don't operate on even 7 hours of sleep! I attempt to give my body 9.5hours sleep a night to be able to function. I don't sleep the whole 9.5, but I need to make sure I offer a big window. I also take a single supplement, which is to help with long term health, and fighting inflammation, and I notice it helps massively. Especially me sleeping, and just less "achey" in the body. Have also kicked sugar, and gluten. A majority of people with ADHD don't go well with gluten. It causes a really interesting natural opioid overdose in the brain, which causes bodily issues and sensory issues.
    • Yeah that's what I meant, permanently connected not manual
    • Yep. But typically that's just run a hose down to the tyre while stationary.   Oh and the Unimog will automatically air up and air down tyres from the onboard computer for you too.
    • There was a good video somewhere, maybe Kurzgesagt that linked physical activity to ADHD/Anxiety/Insomnia etc. Basically the body WILL spend energy doing something if you don't spend it doing anything physical. It isn't fun, but I personally have noticed I've never been overthinky, or unable to sleep if I'm physically exhausted from doing a lot. The musings around it seem to indicate that this is one of the reasons/mechanism that physical activity improves mental health/wellbeing etc, by more or less not using that 'extra' energy to overthink, be anxious, inflammation, etc. There's also the fact that every obnoxious exerciser ever says it's great and helps which is extremely annoying. Like people who say the same thing about travel being the best thing ever. I mean, they clearly are, but blah. I started doing a LITTLE myself (think 3x15min per week) and honestly did notice the benefits, aiming at life quality when older. Which is sooner than you think. Getting something into your routine that you can actually make a routine has helped me at least. This post brought to you by procrastination between sets.
