guys

mid January i was sitting in traffic on a hill when the cock in front of me not paying attention let his foot off the brake and rolled into me.

he damaged/cracked my front bar, grille and bonnet garnish. - nothing too major

i had it quoted including paint using all genuine parts, the job is going through the other guys insurance to all new parts are being used!!

(thanks to Cam for helping me find the page i needed in the Nissan Fast)

they told me to come back in 2 weeks (1st of Feb) to start the job, i explained i knew it would have taken longer than that so was expecting more the start of March

as the parts were being shipped from Japan.

i have been in contact with the panel beaters today who ordered the parts through Nissan and they are having trouble getting answers from them.

and are also under the impression they havent even been sent yet.

has anyone had any experience getting replacement parts for your Stagea through Nissan???

as i seem to be having heaps of problems with this.

i have the money to spend from the Insurance if need be, am i able to order them myself?? or does anyone know if Nissan parts centre would have been affected in the recent tradgedy in Japan?

Ive seen Chris Rogers mention he cant source particular parts at the moment, due to the current situation in Japan - so I would anticipate it may have affected the supply of parts in general. Unfortunately I dont know any further details. Have you tried getting in contact with the Nissan dealership your panel beaters are going through? Is it one of the 'bigger' ones in your area? I know some of t he guys on here have a pretty good relationship with some of their local Nissan dealerships, may be worth ringing around to one of those if possible.

yep. when my dad reversed mine into the gate and smashed my rear window.

i was up for a 6 month wait from Nissan Japan. until then a plastic bag served as my window lol..

because the cars not manafactured anymore its harder to source as parts need to be made(from memory of being told by nissan)

and as Dunc said.. with the floods. your up for a wait bro..

im pretty sure they are going through Ferntree Gully Nissan

who im told are good for sourcing import parts.

i might give them a call tomorrow and see what i can find out.

cheers lads

I have O'Briens ordering windscreen mouldings from them for me as well...

Thank god for Shannon's, I know that the new screen will not have the tinted strip but at least i will not get the generic mouldings... The installers were really good as well, arrived with the Skyline windscreen and went, yup that'll fit. but after 5 mins said that they would not install it as the current mouldings would split on removal and generics would look sh1t. They had already called their office and was told that they did not have any mouldings in stock and that Nissan would not supply them, as it was an import. Told them to speak to FTG Nissan as I knew that they would be able to order them.. Said they would pass that on..

Got a call yesterday saying that FTG were out of stock, like they were going to have them..., but they could order them in. Said that I thought that would be the situation, so O'Briens have now placed an order for the mouldings, and will be back in contact when they arrive.

Lesser insurance company would have insisted on using the generics, and O'Briens are giving me a voucher for free chip repair, that can be used on any vehicle, for the incovenience...

2 weeks is about right for Nissan parts out of Japan. Every now & then, you'll get lucky like I did; and your parts only take 6 days...

Oh, and +1 for Shannons

FTG are good at sourcing parts, but I get all my stuff through Frankston Nissan.

Never has taken more than 10 business days (as is Nissan's standard policy if parts are "ex-japan"), that said I have been told that the devastation will delay the delivery of "some parts"... as Dunc said.

Did you order through F'ston?

Which engine seals?

That's what I thought.

Can you pick them up soon man?

They have been sitting there for weeks (I copped an earful when I picked up some runner gaskets).

    • Hey guys. I have a 400R on its way to Australia from Japan currently and have a few questions I’m hoping others may be able to help with.   Wondering if anyone here has had any luck getting the Sat nav unit to work in Australia!? Assuming the Stereo is as simple as a band expanded and tv won’t work?  Seeing as they’re based off a Q50 which is Aus delivered is there any way to link that system to the nav? Nav modules and head unit are different part numbers and appear slightly different at the rear with plug ins etc. can I put my xtrail sd card into the rv37 and will that convert the maps or update to Australian? Has anyone got any advice here?     also has anyone fitted the factory remote start and Security system once it’s landed in Australia? I put an enquirey to Nissan Japan in via a third party, and they suggested it needs a Nissan Japan dealers device to setup and couldn’t guarantee if one here could do it or not. They can supply and I can physically fit it but to setup I would need a dealers device. Any information here would be appreciated also. I’ve seen one here with it fitted already prior to leaving Japan at a dealer/inporter, so clearly passes compliance and works when fitted Japan and doesn’t need changing here.      also, does the tyre inflation sensors work here? Does anything change with them when the vehicle arrives? Where are they actually situated? I’ve read they have batteries and they need to changing at times and seems like resetting involves the nav system?    any help here would be appreciated and any other aust specific information to help would be great. Looking forward to see what the current generation skyline is like and eager to see how many of the gadgets can be utilised here.  Thanks in advance
    • Do need to take it with a pinch of salt. One of the adapter failures, they clearly had setup issues with the flywheel.  One of the slipping ones I spoke to and it was pretty clear the throwout was riding, rather than fix, just swapped to a new clutch.    These clutches are being put in anything from 5k offroad 4x4 beaters, GR yaris, 500hp commodores to 1200hp barra monsters. Bound to be some issues in some of them when they are not a simple bolt in affair due to the changes in height.    There is a lot going on in this picture and unless I did the job myself no way to tell what really happened.
    • I did this mod in 2019  You just have to modify the top bracket of the ABS/TC/Fuel Pump Control ECU so it sits more upright and closer to the back seat and run a good quality positive battery lead from the engine bay, the negative lead i just bolted down to the body in the boot.
    • Damn... Not the feedback I want to hear.
