R33 Series 2 Stock Turbo

Hey guys,

My turbo is blown, i have sourced a s1.5 turbo. I have a s2 r33 and i no the s1 and the s2 are different, i had a search but couldnt really find anything. I just need to know that t will be a straight swap.

Straight swap. I think the series 1 had metal wheel and series 2 ceramic which made series 2 turbo lighter, spool slightly faster with compensation for strength. Don't hold me on that but I am certain its a straight swap!

1.5 and 2 are suppose to be the same unit

S1 is a straight swap too .....only difference being the material of the comp wheel

Housings are same

Both have ceramic turbine wheel

S1 have steel comp wheel and S1.5 & S2 have nylon/plastic comp wheel

However the correct statement is: They are essentially the same turbo, same specs and same ceramic POS turbine wheel. The S1 has a traditional alloy compressor wheel while the S2 has a nylon wheel.

I have no idea about the s1.5 yet the s1 and 2 will be interchangeable without noticeable difference.

Been ages since I've had both next to each other, but the compressor wheel design looked a bit different the way I remember it - the S1 had a twin blade thing going on whereas the S2 looked a lot more minimalist, the way I remember it. There could have even been a slight difference in size but it was a long time ago and I've pretty much lost interest in the OEM units

Depending on what is blown, you might be better off getting GCG to rebuild and hi-flow it, than getting another stocker which could blow any time.

Front wheel is irrelevant. its the rear wheel that let's go.
