Hi all, I would like to introduce myself.

I perform the marketing and PR duties pertaining to the Cobra BA XR6 Turbo upgrade packages, and of course work with our state distributors including Edo, we have Ierace Performance in WA, Tilbrook in SA and GCG Turbos in NSW.

I don't want this to sound like blatant advertising, rather as I am unable to post on the xr6 forum, I guess I am hoping to find a friendly forum that is in fact open to genuine comment, not contrived statements by a forum sponsor that are designed to try and discredit anyone who dare sto have a differing opinion.

As you would all know by know, the potential of the XR6 Turbo is immense, and it is continuing to go from strength to strength, not just with the Nizpro or www.xr6-turbo.com.au products, but with many others around the country.

We firmly believe that the BA will become the cult car of the 2000s, just as the VL Turbo has been for almost 18 years.

The biggest drawback with them is driveline integrity; hence in the main we are pushing our 'lower' stages, namely Stages 1 and 2. With these we believe the result (a mid 12 second ET and around 113-114mph) is more than adequate for most, certainly given the fact that to drive a vehicle with a Stage 2 and unless you depressed the accelerator and get some boost happening, you would think the car was stock.

Not everyone likes this - there are extroverts out there - however for the sake of keeping the boys in blue off your case, it doesn't come much better than what we have to offer.

In turn, please, should anyone have any queries about the Cobra kits, and you're not in Qld (contact Edo for that), please contact me. I will provide any details to the local distributor - all of whom are more than happy to supply before and after dyno readouts.

Thanks for your time and, as stated, if you want any more details, please either go to the web sites in question or PM or phone me: 0418 362 674.

Greg Brindley.

I would contact the forum owner "prank" just to get his ok on this I diont think there will be an issue.

I agree with the fact this could become the cult car of the 2000's and the development of them is great.

strange place to post in here though when you consider most of the posters here drive or want to drive skylines.

your other solution would be to start your own xr6 turbo forum.

good luck with the product

meggala

have you got any real 1/4 mile times for the kits yet on the factory rubber?

I understand the power to weight ratio lends itself to mid 12's in theory but, the factory suspension setup causes a couple of headaches for traction I hear.

Good site by the way!

Its interesting how open minded skyline owners are.

I used to frequent the ford performance forums under the nick "Skyline" and i used to get harassed and abused because i was giving them grief over fords lineup of cars compared to skylines.

Oh yeah BTW full agreement with the Cult Car thing. Finally a boss at ford (Polites) who had the guts to stand up and say "fck it i want a car that is going to make HSV look stupid, hmmmm, lets turbo our new twin cam 6 for a laugh".

BUT what i cant wait to see are the two new FPV cars the typhoon and the hurricane. The typhoon being the XR6turbo running 9psi of boost, 550nm and 260kw. That is more torque than any australian production car including the V8's (correct me if i am wrong)!!!!!!!!! Hurricane will be the new Territory with an XR6turbo motor.

Check out page 7 of the following pdf.

yeah.. good car, even look good with a bit of a bodykit and the usual from a pretty much one-eyed import owner.

If they were $20,000 I would buy one, unfortunately they're not. When they are, maybe I will :starwars:

About time Aussie cars went back to the turbo and realised the potential for killer performance at a cost thats not astronomical.

While i'm here -- I'd like to know what Fords commitment to the turbo as a long term platform is however. I've seen rumours that suggest that the next XR6 won't be coming out as a turbo model as the sales of the XR6Turbo have not been high enough to warrant it as a separate entity in the ford stable and ? Any truth to that??

Cuspub,

I do not know why you are posting here as you are well known on the www.fordxr6turbo.com forum and you have a well respected product for us xr6t owners. I do not understand why you say that

There are many people who use and recommend your product on www.fordxr6turbo.com

May be if you donate money or sponsor the site you might get a bit more respect instead of trying to trawl forums for free advertising and getting shitty as soon as someone does not agree with you. You are in business and you should put your money where your mouth is. It seems to me you have a chip on your shoulder, may be APS have a better product and you cannot handle the reality.

Clint32: Ford will void your warranty if you fart too close to the car. Depending on the service manager, they will not even let you change the airfilter, coldair scoop or piggyback. The biggest problem with the XR6T is the gearbox, they cannot handle more than about 330fwkw (stage2 updrade) so Ford are rejecting many gearbox claims if they find a piggyback cpu, or evidence of one being installed and removed.

First of all, great website. I especially love the fully detailed step-by-step instructions on fitting your kits.

But I must say, that you have quite a lot to live upto following APS's success with modifying the XR6T. Don't take it the wrong way, but they have achieved phenomenal power figures from the XR6T.

With their off-the-shelf Stage 3 kit, slicks, and a modified auto box, they're running 10s...

Also, if I owned an XR6T, one of the biggest drawcards is the ability to hit 300rwkw and keeping the engine looking nearly completely standard (e.g. APS Kit)... Keeping that in mind, I'm not sure why you felt the need to replace the rocker covers, intake plenum just for a Stage 1 kit? For that reason alone, I wouldn't consider your kit as it stands...

Please take this as constructive criticism, and with a grain of salt if you wish!

As for everyone expecting Ford to honour your warranty after you go and modify your cars with APS/Nizpro kits... Don't hold your breath, for if I were Ford, I wouldn't honour your warranties either :D

i think we all appreciate other cars, most of us own Skylines but have at least one other love so i dont think there's ever been any problems accepting other types of cars here.

the XR6t is the car i would buy if i needed room for a family though :D

I guess it depends on what you look for in a car.

I am getting the Premium sound with SatNav, so it has a hires screen that supports DVD and TV input. The XR6T headunit has a 6 stacker and Subwoofer, I guess it is not designed for Audio Wars or competition, but is loud enough and has enough features to suite about 99% of their market.

From the latest wheels magazine "Flight Of The Falcon" they took it around europe and got some of the other car mags to review.

The first mag measured

Total Weight = 1774kg

Weight Over Front = 988kg

Second mag measured

Total Weight = 1774kg

Weight Over Front = 990kg
