Hi guys.

I sold my C34 Stagea so now I'm looking at importing an nm35 stagea. I'm looking at either the 250t rs aero option or the 250t rx aero option models.

I'm wanting a bit of advice as to whether is worth getting an rx with the Bose option or the rs with the standard single din. My concern with the Bose is if and when it packs it in the cost to fix or convert to the single din option and use an aftermarket head unit. Also if I get one with the tv navi set up after its had the English language conversion and tv tuner fitted can I somehow adapt a DVD player to it easily? What costs are involved with language conversion and tv tuner set up?

The only mods I want on the car are a set of wheels, can't decide on 18" or 19", lowered rsr springs or nismo s tune set up and an aftermarket dump pipe.

Do some of you guys run 18" wheels and look ok or do they definitely need minimum of 19"? Will a 9.5"+30 fit nicely without sticking out the guards or hitting suspension?

And lastly what suspension do most of you run? I don't want coilovers as I have a set of greddy type s in my 180sx with 8/6kg springs and don't want this type of ride in the stagea.

If you guys can think of another pointers please share them.

Thanks guys.

Do some of you guys run 18" wheels and look ok or do they definitely need minimum of 19"? I think a 9" +30 will fit nicely.

If I was you I would get the M35 with the single din stereo and replace it with a dvd player. Then play that into the tuner. You can then play it back through the factory pop up screen. Make sure you get the factory screen and not the aftermarket one. I have worked on a few and about 20% of the bose stereos have something not working.

Ive got 18s on the car but I think 19s would fill the gaurds a lot better.

I'm with Brad. The NON Bose version is the one to get. This gives you heaps more options (single or double DIN) and get the factory screen. A digital tuner will cost you ~$250 to get it going if you DIY. I can't remember what the English conversion costs, but PM Brad and ask.

I run 245/45 R18's on my M35 & they look OK 'cause they aren't really low profile tyres (better ride with a bit more sidewall IMO) but even these are too small for an accurate speedo reading. Ideally 50 series tyres would be better for me. But if you like the low profile look, then you'd have to go with 19's (or even 20's) & the speedo would still be within acceptable limits.

The M35 was designed for big wheels  and you need 'em to fill those guards.

Sweet, thanks guys. I will definitely look for a none Bose equipped car but with the factory tv screen then.

I don't really like super low profile tyres. This is why I'm thinking of sticking with 18" and looking at a set of work XT7 in 18x9.5+30 all round.

Commsman, any chance you can post a pic of your car with the 18s?

Currently have an ARX for just over a week and a bit. Just getting to know the car so im no expert on the stagea, but do have a r33 skyline for almost 10 yrs and know how to fix everything if it breaks.

but with enough time, motivation and money you can get anything done. These are my opinions so sorry to anyone that may get offended, not politically correct blah blah... etc

Heres what if found with the car so far,

BOSE Headunit, has a tape lol. Sub in boot/spare wheel. Sound quality is OK as the inside is quiet with stock exhuast. these car are 10ys old so dont expect the so sound like 2011 car with bose hardware/sound system. Havnt really cranked it up to see if i can feen the base or how good the feidelity is before it starts to crack up and distort/static. But I dont want to be like one of those lancers your see where their cars about to fall apart from the outside..

Apparently AC controls are integrated with the head Unit. Afermarket facai are aound $300+ off ebay, AC controller $150+ ( i will bite the bullet when the Head unit goes, will probably do a aftermark PC/tablet job - however i like to keep the console stock looking as possible )

***can someone post pics of bose unit - tear down pics would greatly be aprreciated , i like to see how the AC is integrated***

Check the pillars closeyly for rust. Missed the small rust bubble in mine. but minor - I may need to sand it down and repaint it and put a pillar cover on it when it bothers me. ( there are mirror pillars on yahoo jp for around $160 )

as for factory SAT Nav, will never work in australia map provider is Navteq. Factory TV, wont work - will require aftermarket reciever. You can hook up a DVD/IPAD what ever has a video signal to it as it has a Aux input.

Only thing useful I found is the reverse camera at first, ( only found it useful as my R33 Whale is like an Elephant compare to M35 Stagea and reverse parking is a must since this car is almost 5M long ) once I got use to the size of the car I dont really need the camera.

Sat Nav to English have to ask the guys that have done it here on the forum, though the russian company charges $100us for local russian version. You can read more about feature with the v35 infinity model from the states.

I wont be getting mine done as I dont need it, the DVD sat nav has also built in inerita system to calculate the trip - ie if your in a tunnel or have no gps coverage, the olny thing useful would be the economy stuff how much your car uses km/l . Im not sure how accurate it is also though - I have 18s on my car but i swear on the speedo it says im doing 70km but i see camrys passing me. I have to check if i have the right rolling diameter.

My arx has a 80 litre tank, happy to get 600km from a tank ( my skyline gets 350km per tank city driving has 220kwrw no matter how granny like i drive its still the same ) so its fairly easy to work out and calculate.

The Jap Sat Nav DVD is a X6 map system, there is updated maps for US and EU. However JAP DVD sat nav unit is different to those of US and EU their map. Use a Hex editor to open mmain01.dat and it will tell you what version. Jap DVD has 3 folders while the US/EU has 10 folders.

If i have more motivation, apparently theres a manufacturer firmware disk that does it, i still havnt found it yet and may never will. My Navman is working fine on the window.

The english conversion is a custom firmware, which is done by a russian company xanavi.ru is a custom hack firmware. The upgrade process is done from the DVD or maybe the DVD itself but i may be wrong - from reading gpsunderground forum on their upgrade process.

Here ya go...

18 x 8 +30 - 350z track rims. Completely stock suspension...

R34 GTR rims (18 x 9 +30) fits fine too. I don't think 9.5 +30 will have an issue. 19s will definately look better...

Go with the RS with the standard single din cd player. Save yourself the headache of having to replace it when the intergrated stereo dies...

To be honest I think the stock sound system isn't too bad. The bass is alot punchier and clearer then my 2010 Mazda 3...

Here's mine at standard height. Lowered by maybe an inch should make a significant difference visually.

If I was buying wheels from the start I would probably go with 19's (depending on budget) but still with big tyres, ie not ultra low profile. The speedo signal would need to be modified to be accurate (if important to you) but there's no way to fill these guards without lowering & expect to maintain an accurate speedo. The wheels would have to be really big.

I noticed that and that's the colour I'm after with aero kit.

I think I would be happy enough with 18s and lowered about 30mm.

Can anyone confirm if 18x9.5+30 will fit and not hang outside the guards nor hit the suspension? This seems to be the best sizing the work xt7 comes in.

hahah do you like how all 3 pics that were posted were silver aero selections?

Is that because they are the best? That's what I conclude from this exercise...

we had a guy on here with 19x9.5 +30 LMGT4s.

I think he needed a fair bit of Low to make them fit. But they went on it.

I'm super secret squirrel about my rims. I'm going to order some, just getting the best prices now. 19x8.5 Japanese, and awesome...:nyaanyaa:
