I think if you look at the bottom end it's clear.

You might also read the tea leaves on the rb26 vs. 2jz because you'll come to the same conclusion.

But like Holdens and Fords, you choose your sides and you live with it and it'll be a cold day in hell before I own a Soarer or Supra.

T.

Then again when you can get gtr stuff and poke it straight into the 25 it adds a different aspect to the equation. Yes I realise you are talking stock but the rod upgrade is cheap and easy.

If anything, my only detraction from the 25 is the ease with which you can overboost the engine and the resulting detonation kills the pistons.

End of the day, horses for courses...and this is a skyline forum so bugger off with yer toyo crap (yes my soarer alternator died today so I'm off toyo)

i think they both sound amazing in their own separate ways, and both have their own better/worse characteristics

id go with this comment...there is a write up in zoom comparing the 1J to the rb26 look it up and read it i dont want to sound bias...

the RB25 is a fantastic engine but as far as 1J vs rb25 no offence but the 1J is better compared to the rb26...

I wouldn't say the 1JZ is better than the RB26, but it certainly is in a class beyond the RB25.

Daresay the reason you don't commonly see serious example of 1JZ is due to the vehicles they were released in (Soarer, MKIII Supra).

The update single turbo VVTi 1JZ is where it is at

The 1JZ might be a "class beyond" the RB25, but I daresay that the rest of the car (R32+ Skyline) is a "class beyond" any comparable Toyota. What do you buy a car for anyway, the strength of the bottom end? You can change that easily. But you can't change fatass porky styling. My "inferior" RB25 is pumping out 220+ at the wheels and I see any point in comparing it to other engines that are capable of holding more power. My engine does the job and that's all that matters.
