Has anyone had the standard turbo on their R33 GTS25t hi flowed by GCG.

If so how was the experience?

I am told that the new hiflowed turbo they do for around $1800 is equivelant to a GT3040 but as i am reasonably turbo ignorant i would like to hear from others who have used one of these. ie is it heaps more laggy, does it increase that wonderful turbo whistle we all live for, what pressure is it most efficient at, etc.

:starwars: We have found using the search tool renders some very good responses in relation to the GCG highflow :flamed:

Seriously, there are quite a few people with GCG highflows on their RB's and even more seriously considering one (myself included). Sydneykid on these forums has used several with very good results. There are many threads so use the search button and read!

Subtle.

BUT i am after someone who has had one done RECENTLY because apparently the OLDER hi flowed turbos (stage 1 and stage 2) had problems with surging. THEREFORE i didnt bother doing a search because i am NOT interested in old posts only people who have had it done recently.

Maybe you (SeriesIIGTST) should stop posting useless help and tell me of your friends experiences if they have had one done RECENTLY. I hope i emphasized

RECENTLY

enough for you.

oh the joys of attitude....wanna DEFINE recent for me? last week, last 2 weeks, last month, last 3 months???? - otherwise any info I may post may be "useless"

I don't personally know anyone with a GCG highflow myself, I know from reading the threads that are already active of people's RECENT experiences who, if you cared to actually bother reSEARCHing, have had no problems with their GCG highflows such as surging (although there is an older post somewhere where someone had commented on this problem too).

Try these threads:

http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ht=gcg+highflow

http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ht=gcg+highflow

as a starter....

SEARCH is your friend, stop with the attitude and do some for yourself.

Checked those two threads you posted and they both refer to stage 1 and 2 hi flows. The new hi flow they do is one size only ie any threads making reference to stage 1 and 2 are USELESS.

I dont know how recent this change is but anyone that has one of these NEW hi flows will know what i am talking about and they are the ones i want to hear from.

Unsure as to what you're referring.....according to

http://www.gcg.com.au/catalogue/Turbo%20Ki...etrol/tk_p.html

There are still the two stages of the GCG highflow for the R32 + R33. Note that prices have been updated from the "old" highflow ratings of $2,250 + $2,450 for the 450 and 500 respectively.

Ok, Ive had a cgc high flow done, sydney kid helped me out big time, i got the stage 1 rebuild, (450HP), its a great turbo, they machined about 8mm out of it/ i was runnin a minimum of 12psi and max 20psi, not laggy at all!! full boost by 3500rpm, if your not goin to put an aftermarket manifold on the cgc option is awesome, highly recommened!!!!!

SeriesIIGTST this is getting tiring, call GCG on 02 97082122 they will tell you they only sell one turbo (for the GTS25t). It is a mix of the stage one and stage two because as i said they used to get surging problems. As such i would like to hear from people with the new turbo, apparently they used the compressor wheel of the stage one turbo and turbine wheel of the stage two!

Thanks Lepperfish. How long ago was it you got yours high flowed?

I spoke to Brett at 'Drag Combat' at WSID about 5wks ago and he told me that the 450hp and the 500hp were the same price ($1900) its up to the customer to choose what size they want.

As a matter of fact, I spoke to GCG personally (as i said in my first post, i'm considering one myself) just on Monday who informed me that there were still two stages of highflow but recommended the 450HP one to me because the 500HP job you start to need more support system upgrades such as injectors and ECU. You seem to be the only one on here who has been told that there is only one type of upgrade. Lepperfish expresses his use of the stage 1 (clearly suggesting that there is a stage 2) and he gets praise, while this whole time I've been polite and suggesting you do a search, given you feedback of things I've read and posted links but all you seem to do is give me attitude. Grow up.

R33NT; above is your original post. In seriesIIgtst's defence, where do you see the word RECENTLY in your above post? Seriously it seems every week someone comes along with a new "GCG highflow" thread, and he was perfectly in place to tell you to search. Then you come back with a stupid thread trying to cover your ass by writing RECENT in capitals all over it.

If you post something that has already been done a million times, you will always get someone telling you to search. If you dont want to be told to search, then be MORE SPECIFIC in your ORIGINAL post, and perhaps state that you HAVE searched, but found nothing that SPECIFICLY answers your question. UNDERSTAND?!

Your response to seriesII's post is RIFE with ATTITUDE and has prompted THIS post. So be carefull, as an unhealthy attitude on here may get you BANNED if you rub people up the wrong WAY. :kick:

btw i do note that you wrote "new highflowed turbo" however i woudlnt think many people would know that GCG have changed their line up, whether they actually have or not still seems to be in contention!

SLY33 I posted this with a good attitude but SeriesIIGTST kicked of with post full of attitude and it has all gone down hill from there. I was told that they had one turbo made up from the stage one and stage two turbo which is why i asked for people with new turbos "new". I can accept your criticism but as you pointed out i only asked for people with the "new" hi flow and all i get is attitude from SeriesIIGTST about using a search which by his own demonstration returned nothing relevant.

SeriesIIGTST PLEEEEEEAAAAAASSSSSEEEEE go and annoy someone else i really only want to hear from people who have one of these new hi flow turbos as i am seriously considering one since i am running 15psi through my standard turbo (borrowed time).

I'LL SAY THIS AGAIN

ANY ONE WANTING DISCUSS SEARCH ROUTINES, THE GCG WEBSITE AND ANYTHING NOT RELEVANT TO THIS NEW TURBO PLEASE CLICK THE "BACK" BUTTON ON YOUR BROWSER AS I DONT WANT TO HEAR ABOUT (note SLY33 i am not having a go at you in saying this i just want to get back to what this post is supposed to be about).

So whats the deal with GCG turbos? do they change over the core, or rebuild it?

are they using a bigger comp housing or just opening it up and fitting a T4 wheel in?

could someone tell me where gcg are located? ie city/state?

Okay R33NT, just rang GCG again (I'm going to avoid the Caps for that word) and you are partially right but a little misguided.

There are still two types of highflows, the Stage 1 and 2 - as i have directed you to in my previous posts, making all my posts completely valid and useful, also in relation to my gcg website page perfectly informative - however, they aren't offering the Stage 2 to people unless they have at least the following mods:

larger FMIC

upgraded fuel pump and injectors

Full exhaust (unsure if this includes manifold - didn't ask)

ECU

CAI

also preferrable is some head work

They said that they experienced some minor surging with the stage 2 before which is why they are checking that you have those items listed above before they will sell/recommend it to you. Therefore, if you read the other posts about the STAGE 1 TURBO, you will still be getting accurate information and results about the turbo YOU are looking at as this HASN'T CHANGED. Also, they don't offer the stage 2 at all to people with RB20s, only RB25s.

Hope that helps clear the air a bit in relation to that.

PHaT Mr30: Highflowing in terms of GCG's work performed retains your original housing but having them machined out to fit slightly bigger steel wheels. They also change the original ball bearing pack for their own dual ceramic ball bearing pack (which can be ordered as a spare part should they ever break). This means that they are able to be bolted back into the original spot without any problems.

I got the same info when i called them today but in previous conversations with them they never mentioned the stage 2 because the new one combined stage one and two.

But as previously stated i would really like to hear from someone with this new stage one/two combo to find out just how it compares to a stock turbo and any other relevant points.
