Hi all,

I am currently making 390awkw @ 20psi & looking at cracking over 400awkw.

I need to address 2 areas:

1. Fuel delivery – now running an under car surge tank which i want to remove & run a big intank pump (to simplify the setup)

2. Injectors – now running sard 700cc

Ive been recommended the nismo intank fuel pump as it bolts straight in & delivers 255ltrs/hr, however, i cannot find accurate figures on the performance of the bosch 044 fuel pump (some say 200ltrs/hr, other sources say 300ltrs/hr). I do know that the 044 is good for 700bhp though.

My question is if anyone knows what the 044 flows & if it out performs the nismo pump?

Is there a higher flowing intank pump than the nismo pump?

If i cant get away with my 700cc injectors, i may also need to run the injector dynamics ID1000’s

I think your going to struggle to push that much power through a single pump without going to one of the really big aeromotive units or something similar marko.

what's the reasoning for not wanting a surge tank if it is under the car ?

Are u staying with 98 ?

What injector duty are u at now?

Some more boost and u should crack 400?

yes

i need to confirm with my tuner as i only just bought the car, i think over 80% (past its efficiency point) as the exhaust temp light flickers under load which is a warning light for the vipec v44 ecu & more than likely injector duty

yeah so if i go to 23-24psi & as long as its safe will make over 400awkw comfortably

the aust delivered gtr has an oil cooler fitted to the gearbox for the driveline so i want to put this back in the car :)

this was removed for the surge tank

Anything is possible. If ur good at fab work and making a custom fuel pump lid so u can run the 2 lines out.

Get ur tuner to check why the cat light flickers before u assume its injector duty. Just to make sure its nothing else.

yes i'll have my tuner check the light warning to confirm its injectors.

general rule of thumb i think is once u exceed 90% injector duty cycle, it can get dangerous - always good to have a buffer zone

you have my attention :)

where are they based, vic?

This be the thread you are looking for.

Looks like its R33/34 only though :( - maybe speak to them about an R32 version. I would think supplying your own pumps should bring that price down significantly.

I think I saw powertune have a dual 044 in-tank kit with all the bits you need.

yeah I have seen them too in a magazine

website confirms this: www.powertune.com.au

They have a kit for 33/34GTR

they are working on the 32 GTR one

You never know it might be done already. Maybe give them a call

I remeber you had a silver ADM years ago, is this the same car? What setup do you have now?

u have a good memory...yes that is me & yes that is the same car, i hadn't seen it for 5.5yrs!

setup is mechanically still the same (i.e. hks gtrs turbo's, pon cams etc) but now running a vipec v44 (much better than the power fc).

you wont get more than 430HP or so outta an 040 so dont bother, you could look into a Bosch 023? Big brother of the 040..

If you can get twin 044's in tank thats prob your cheapest option if you fab something up yourself however you would want to be really careful that they both were sucking fuel from the bottom of the tank.

I personally have an 040 as a lift pump a surge tank and 2 x 044's feeding to the front of the car with -8AN Braid.

    • I found the same with Subaru’s.  I own and love the SG9 Forester, after that model 2008+, Subaru threw the ugly stick at all their line up and somehow managed to make them look worse with every succeeding year.  lol
    • It's something we all have to consider as time marches on. Also consider lifted rally MX5 conversion at that point.
    • I should be fine for a few more years, whilst I do have arthritis I also exercise and do mobility training every day to keep as fit and healthy as I can, military life, which is the actual cause of most of my joint issues, has set daily regimes, which I weirdly enjoy I also train alot smarter now, not really focusing on lots strength or puffy muscles, I'm more focused on maintaining what I have for my future older self, I actually train as much mobility now as I do exercising Check out this "simple" drill I have been doing daily prior to training now for a while now, this has worked wonders in my all round mobility
    • I'd say one thing that may make you sell is the same reason the guy with the hard top roof sold his. He got old, and his back was giving him too much grief stopping him getting in and out... Old guy said he was 73! He looked and sounded younger than 73 to me! Or maybe I'm just aligning with old people more...
    • Already looked at a few prior to getting the MX5, really nice car, had all the mod cons, but I wasn't really sold on the new "look" I did miss my 2017 Limited, and I personally prefer the "look" of the older car over the new model, but, when pondering I kept going back looking at MX5's But it was same same for the new ND's, I wasn't sold on the new "look", especially the RF with its weird roof, which only half goes down, like a targa top sort of thing As I stated before, I did look at NC's, but the cars I looked at were PRHT's, but I didn't like their roof line "look" of the PRHT, until I saw the soft top version, (someone on SAU posted a for sale ad for one with a soft top that caught my attention, you can blame them for my choice.....🤣) and.... that old style detachable hard tops were available for them, which keeps the old MX5 more smoother flowing roof line, and the more rounded body style, similar to the NA-NB, to me, the arse end of the ND looks to "modern" Much like how I prefer the NC1 front bar, over the later models How long will I keep this car for is unknown, but currently, there's nothing else out there that "floats my boat" for a small, fun, little "sports car", that I can play with and enjoy looking at and driving But, who knows what the future holds, and going off current new car styling, if I replace it, it will be a older model something something
