hey all i just got my insurance bill the other day and.....

well the amount was.....well RIDICULOUS!!!

But also besides that i noticed the identity of my R33 GTST is not right. it was labled as a NISSAN SKYLINE GTST HR33 ...??? isnt it a ECR33 ??

So i did some more research for a better insurance company tried a few online quote forms but in their vehicle list it only has NISSAN_GTR

i cant find GTST or GTS for that matter and they do indeed exist! so i put in GTR with my make date (93) and there it is as a NISSAN SKYLINE HR33???

Do insurance companys actually hav GTSTs in their databases cos if ive been paying for a GTR price this whole time im gonna be pissed !

the reason im trying to figure out whats wrong is the price i pay for it. ive had it for 4 years now and :

1st year : $3650

2nd year: $2860

3rd year : $2640

4th year : $2332

now thats alot of money to insure a GTST almost stock as well as being under the wrong ID

and a few months ago my brother bought a FPV BF Super Pursuit ute with his insurance only costing him $1800 ??

theres got to be a solution after all theres alot of guys with GTSTs, is that about right for a GTST or am i getting jipped??

ive got 5 days to pay this so can some1 tell me quick??

I've got mine (ECR33) insured with Shannons. They have it down as an HR33 also.

When I queried this with them they reckoned it was close enough.

Guess price depends on how much it's insured for, how dodgey an area you live in and even how old you are as well as driving history / claims history etc...

try http://www.justcarinsurance.com.au/index.asp ... i had my r33gtst insured with them and had a section where you could insure all your mods to the premium aswell-not cheap by normal standards but a hell of a lot cheaper than what you were posting above.

btw the company was through "JUST CAR" and all mods done to it are listed within >> Intercooler, exhaust, turbo charged non standard

No claims made

21 yo

Agreed value $13, 250

hey luther,i'm with just car.got my r33 gtr insured for $28900 and it's $1280 for me a year.i'm 35 yrs old if that makes a diff with them.and that's gone down from last year.no claims.acknowledge all mods(very little)and if your mod isn't about power and more safety/handling,then explain that to them.aami owns shannons/just car.shannons will insure you if you have a lockable garage at home for your car.and you can opt for insuring the car as a weekender with no log books necessary.(for clarification ring them)have rung just about every insurer and you are limited to a narrow choice if you own an import.most don't recognise the car or as a couple stated"we don't insure race cars, that's a race car"

OUCH!!!!!!think my excess for damage is about $450.if car stolen it's bout 1300.costly necessity, but piece of mind.it does show what insurers think of our cars.and with amount of aussie made cars showing up on tv news reports on crashes, prob a bit unwarranted.especially as the jap cars are big on safety from factory.

also its got down those 3 mods intercooler, exhaust ,turbo charged does that mean >>>STOCK R33 GTST "is'' turbo charged, "has" an exhaust, and "has" an intercooler are they just scaping money from me just because the car has a turbo etc.

i havent told told them that recently if had ecu upgrade (PFC), injetecors (cant find the description in theri database), AFM w pod, Coil packs , HD clutch (if it matters) because im pretty sure the price will just go much higher cos if its written off i will just pull it all out

i just finished my traineeship last week but by the looks of it all ive saved from last year will go on this

ring them up and get a new quote for your car (dont tell them your a customer, just pretend your new and get a quote) as it seams to vary every time. if it comes in drstically lower than what your currently paying then kick up a fuss and ask for the lower rate

they didnt tell me there was extra for turbos.clutch shouldnt matter, just tell its a replacement item thats better quality.you're not lying.same for coils, you want them to acknowledge that they agree with you on the phone.but you don't wanna see those mods appear on the bill.where there is major power upgrades.they gonna make you pay.and also, when you're asking about increases on the bill due to mods, ask 'why?'don't give them answers like power, outright car value or anything.make the consultant explain why a particular mod costs extra to ensure.if their logic doesn't stack up,you have a chance to negotiate.they wanted to charge me for braided brake lines(adr), and i told them it was done for compliancing reasons.which it was.and it made the car safer,if anything.but i say, good luck!

I got quoted recently $3400 with Just Car as well. For a mildly modded R32 gts-t for an 18 year old, mind you they are the only ones who would insure it. Don't really remember specifics like premiums / excess etc.

I just got quoted yesterday 3200 dollars with just car. And that's for an 02 GTR V Spec 2 Nur for a 20 year old.

Not sure how your getting charged so much for a 33gtst??

wow if i had that Nur i wouldnt care what it costs to insure it :) But yes for a 33GTST is a bit much

even though its been in to be fixed twice (not my fault) shouldn't change anything

*sigh* looks like my bodykit, retune, BOV, mags, suspension, t timer and e boost controller are gonna have to wait longer............

    • I've been pondering this, I really enjoy the convertible thing, for me, it's like riding a motorbike, without all the issue of riding a motorbike, mainly, my old sore arthritic joints getting beaten up, and, being able to do it in shorts and a T-shirt and not needing a helmet and all the other gear required, especially like wearing jackets and pants in the summer, or needing 6 layers of cloths in the winter, or not having wet weather gear handy when your 100km away from home on the bike when it decides to start raining As for the hard top and its Coupe look, whilst I do lose all that open top feeling that I really enjoy, from my experience with the NB with a detachable hard top, the cabin is a much nicer place to be, the difference in noise for one, a hard top quietens down the interior, alot, with the soft top up or down it's pretty noisy, which, after 5 or so hours, can get tiring But, as you stated, the detachable hard top totally changes the look of the car, in a really good way, and for me, the look of a detachable hard top is so much better than the PRHT which looks more like a after thought with its weird bulbous rear roof line For me, the minimal effort of putting in on, or storing it after removing it, is well worth the time and effort for the look alone And yes, I'm sure the next owner will be grateful for it as well.......
    • I get into huffs with people when I suggest the MX5 looks so much better as a coupe than it does as convertible. Pretty sure I don't prefer the convertible version of anything. Good job on the hardtop! The next buyer will appreciate.
    • IMO wrap does have its uses, but like you said, quality wrap, and professional installation, would probably cost want a quality paint job does, but, the paint, if maintained, is basically for life, and much easier to touch up if required  In other news: it's pissing down here, with thunder, lightning and only some small hail "at this stage", luckily all "my" cars are undercover  I've also been contacted by a guy in Newcastle about the SS, he said he will come down next weekend for a look, we'll see how that transpires I guess 🫰
    • Nah, I'm not an a-hole, ha ha!   I do like the colour match. Some of the carbon fibre wraps are quite freaking horrible. There's one a local company I know uses, and it looks damn good! Also very very expensive per metre to buy! ha ha ha It might be cheaper to respray the roof than use the good CF Wrap, ha ha!
    • Please noooooooo 😭 As for wrap, no thank you mate, I've seen and used "carbon fibre" wrap before, and for these hard tops, they look soooo good when colour matched Like this >>>
