"At last year's Electronic Entertainment Expo, Sony announced Portal 2 was coming to the PlayStation 3. More surprising was the revelation by the game's developer, Valve Software, that it would be bringing Steam online functionality to the PlayStation Network. "

This could be either totally awesome or a complete fk up.

wtf is steam?

google motherf**ker.. can you use it. If you actually just enter "steam" into google search it is the first thing on the list.. Steam link

Steam is like the borg of the games world.. you can buy all your games through steam.. play them through steam.. add friends on steam.. and then join your friends in their game.. also has an msn type chat feature.. steam on ps3 will ultimately bridge a connection to cross platform..

What game, I hadn't heard of any others that are cross platform?

Steam has actually been making me think lately.. I mean there is a decent number of games available now (on Steam) that are playable on Mac & PC.. If you buy one version you automatically get the other for free.

Now, it has come about that if you buy the PS3 version of Portal 2, you get the Mac & PC versions free!! (Pretty sure it costs more than the PC version though)

Theoretically, wouldnt it be AWESOME if you could buy a game, and it would work on ALL platforms that it was developed for. Think about it, noone is really losing anything, the same number of games get sold.. It's only hardware manufacturers that I can see being against this, but maybe Valve is ahead of the curve here in pushing the concept!....
