should be ok to just unplug, think it only splices into the ignition system and bypasses part of it for a designated time, so if you unplug it, it should still work as normal. Isnt it easy enough to just unplg it and try it out?

Not really it seems quite messy under the steering wheel I'll have to tale the interior panel out tommorrow and see if it just unplugs

hopefully it will be fine

Cheers

PS if it works anyone want a FET turbo timer with R32 harness for 50-60 bucks

  • 5 months later...

Hi guys, I am thinking of installing a racecar-style ignition on/off switch and am thinking that using a turbo timer harness may be the way to go.

Do turbo timer harnesses hook into both the 'on' and the 'start' circuits?

Thanks, Ben

Theres no need for them to hook into the start wire because they only need to keep the car running when key is off. Should hook into ACC, ON and constant power.

What exactally do you want to do? have the normal key to turn everything in the car on then having a race style switch to start?

Thanks, I gathered the same with the start wire. I want to have one click switch to turn the car to on and a push button for start. I don't think I need an acc switch if I go straight to on. I don't want to use my key at all but would probably want to wire is so rant I could still use the key if I wanted to.

That's gonna make your car quite easy to steal

And therefore if it was stolen and recovered insurance would refuse payout

yeah, this

It would have to retain a key to turn on the electrics and push button to start only when the key is in. The only way I could see it being safe

    • I mean, the 240i is not a Supra... make it drop a few hundred kg, have a sportscar chassis, clearance for wheels etc... Maybe I want a hardtop Z40i XDrive or something :p I do agree with you though and have long said the B58 Supra/240i/340i/440i is the new R Chassis/JDM90's turbo rocket for mod lovers to ... not always appreciative response lol. Doesn't make it not true though.
    • I will do the build myself but I will be paying for the tune because I don't know how much about that and would rather it be done right and by a professional
    • Will you build and tune it yourself or do you need to pay for labour?
    • Mechanically that's essentially what the M240i is, it's just not pretending it's not a BMW
