Thats the opposite to my experience, The 595 as they are now known are reasonable, but the RSR is pretty bad, and they are also pretty bad when cold. A good all rounder is the 595EVO.

595SS are utter crap in the wet, you might as well be on bald retreads. fark they are aweful

I've revised my opinion on RSRs in the wet though - they are good, if you already have them up to temp when it starts raining. If they're cold and you can't get the heat into them, they are pretty average. Not as bad as SSs though.

KU31s are awesome in the wet

no go, coil packs are gone

How'd ya manage that man? You going to upgrade them or just get some replacements?

Working Saturday

Yer I know man, shame. Would you come with on a lakeside one? This will probably be my last of the QR happy laps...I should reeeeealy be doing the sprints.

Ill be there :)

3 more sleeps man ;)

Ok, I'm gonna add my take on the happy laps thing you guys have raging on in the event thread. I'll do it here on the sly so its only the frequent posters that read this   (I'm aware plenty of the club execs will see this so yea haha)

I think its a bit harsh to say "Happy laps" isn't fun due to the speed limit on straights. The speed limits apply on the whole track and I don't really know many places where you could take corners ("theoretically") at the 120kmh limit :P

I will say this tho....EvoOz happy laps are only $20 LOL

Don't think there's a Breakfast/lunch but I'd give that a miss for cheap driving time :)

EvoOz have the same rules and that's all that I will say on the matter.

All clubs running happy laps have the same rules. There isn't a different group of rules for different clubs. It's how stringently they are regulated that varies. The guys at qr have been kind to us and are usually a little more flexible with the rules.

Go out on Saturday, if you don't like it, run it yourself.

All depends on what one personally deems as fun mr Nick and what you're accustomed to hey? All a matter of preference really. For some people 120km is fast, for some it is ok and for others it's slow and not worth the money especially if you only just spent over 1 hour driving at 100-110kmh :)

But in saying that and after talking to others I am OK with it, especially seeing that QR is nice to us - like you said.

I've been thinking that I'll do the next Lakeside happy laps and then go to sprint days from then on instead (like I used to).

QR's idea with the Happy Laps is that they give you a taste of track life....if you like it and want to go faster you do the sprint days and don't push the rules on a heap of Happy Laps sessions instead ...and besides, why would you if the Sprint Days are better value for money anyway? (a whole afternoon for about $100 or so from memory)

So yeh guys....it's no biggie. Relax :)

Nick, you're coming with me to sprint days when you get your Evo....it is the BEST way to have some fun!!

^this this this. So much this!

Tony, did you read carefully what I put up?

If that was a blanket statement, then I agree with you completely.

If it was directed at me specifically, then you've missed the mark by quite a bit :P

Sorry mate. Re-read what you wrote and I did mis-read it the first time. I was laced up on cold and flu meds and grumpy with all the shit going on that I was blindsighted.

Thanks though!

My point was to say that the speed limit on the straights seem slow, yes. Hell my old NA silvia/KIA Rio/Hyundai Getz can easily exceed 120km/h on the straights at QR.....BUT.........

I don't know of many fun roads where you can legally take corners at the aforementioned speed limit and still be safe (run-off, gravel traps etc).

There's still plenty of fun to be had at happy laps. People just need to "speed" on other parts of the track apart from the long straights.

I'm pretty sure you're a corners man yourself ;)

Notice I only voice my opinions here and not the actual Happy Laps thread because we're a close lot and things will never ever get heated in here. I don't like stirring people up LOL

& Yes, I would ABSOLUTELY LOVE to do sprint days if and when I get my hands on a good evo. Would still rather a good GTR, dude. The For Sale section is currently full of them :(

Hey boys and girls.

Bonjour peeps!

Nick, no worries with all that happy laps stuff. The only reason why I got a bit wound up is because I paid that morning and then, 2hrs later, new rules were posted up that to me, were "new". But that's all sorted out now ;)

As for your car - why don't you and the wifey come to some sort of compromise? You have your toy and she has the family car? Any one who has a toy car should really have a daily anyway especially for when you want to work on the toy for a week or something.

If you want a GTR then please do get one! You are getting older and so are the cars and we will definitely be the last generation to enjoy this era of Japanese muscle (and all that awesome muscle that came out worldwide in the 90's) If you left it for another 10 years could find yourself buying a 30 year old R32 with possibly close to 200k on it in need of full restoration (it's probably what I will have to do when I get mine eventually)....not to mention, god only knows what sort of ridiculous laws we'll have in Australia by then.
