I have had the luck of owning some R32 Gibson cams. I had them cam doctored. Thought I would share some information as this forum has helped me quite a bit. I never installed them as they did not run a std base circle. These were machined from nissan blanks. They did run different cams for different tracks, along with a sump specific to the track. No idea what circuit these were for.

Inlet

261

9.54mm

326.4 lobe center

Exhaust

273

9.74mm

326.4 lobe center

Tolerance: 1/2 thou

May give you an insight into my own cam choice. I didn't stagger my cams as I have plenty of exhaust flow from the 3ltr.

The base circle was 1mm under(30mm). I would just be grabbing some JUN Cams(as i have done)

JUN

IN 264 9.7 EX 272 9.7

Std 31mm base circle

No Cam lobe refuge machining

Can use with Std springs but i use Tomei Type B-9500rpm(type A-8500rpm max) which are heavier than what come with the JUN kit.

or

HKS

IN 264 10mm EX 272 10.2mm

What we found with testing JUN Cams

264 264 gives more power and better response than std cams, pretty smooth idle

264 272 gives more power than above and better spool than below, slight lump

272 272 less 500rpm response more power, little lumpy

Can you give a quick overview of your specs? You mentioned 3lt but what head/manifolds/turbo/power etc.

How much did the doctoring cost?

Have a look at this link for cam testing on a 3SGTE. The reason I bring this up is the results we got from our own testing on a Rb26/30 was similar in curve, rpm, duration, lift and relationships apart from the 272IN and 264EX which we haven't tested and our 264/272 combo resulted in 10kw gain up top over 264/264, torque was also 150rpm later.

Hey Matt,

So just to be clear, the above results was with the cams set at zero?

Cheers

I have this exact setup in my car already haha.

Will have to think about whether it's worth changing.

Interesting to see these results as they go against the grain with a lot of people.

Good work Matt.

I agree cams with around that duration just seem to work really well on a mildish setup

Im on 260 10.2 270 10.2 tomei's.

After cam timing was setup these cams are very very lumpy

2.6LTR

twin 2530's

410awkw on 98

467awkw race fuel

We pieced this combo together in 2004 and to this day i cant bring myself to change a single part of the setup it destroys other gtrs with big single's and 150+hp..

Nice info matt...

Great results from 2530's. What boost are your running? Additional specs would be great.

Lots of $$ invested in the head is helping alot:

Jhh ported head/built 2.6

1mm+ IN 2mm+ EX valves

Good multi angle valve job

Tomei cams as above

Extrude honed stock manifold

2530's

Almost maxed 800cc sards

Dual nismo intanks

Sorted my suspension issues out recently taking it out saturday should go bottom 10's hopefully..

2mm oversized exhaust valves? Damn, don't hear of that often. Surely that's the maximum that fits in there.

Which actuators are you using?

Fantastic result, I bet it's fun!!!

Jealous for sure

This is a Txt from my engine build on 2mm+ IN 3+Ex:

Yep it would fit in the chamber. Better if it was a 88mm bore( sleeved block) No point though as I can't remove that much material in the port or I'll find water

Actuators went from hks to 19 and now to 25psi units exhaust side must be getting close to the limits.

Quite excited to get it on e85 should be faster again with the extra torque from the fuel and push closer to 500kw if the turbos hold up..
