Painting Stock Wheels

Just out of interest has anyone painted the stock 6 spoke R34 GTT alloys?

Was thinking about painting these black or charcoal to suit my silver 34. Is the general consensus that painting is better than powdercoating for wheels? what about for gutter rash?

painting is easier to strip off later should you want a colour change..

powdercoating will give you a tuffer finish but will cost 200$ whereas you can buy 2 cans of paint for 10$ or 4 for 20$ if you want a glossier finish..

fair point. Is powdercoating more durable, as i've read that one stone chip with crack a large section.

What would you recommend in terms of prepping/undercoating? have time off over easter so might get motivated and have a crack

i did mine a week ago , 350z wheels . no undercoat required if you sand thoroughly - unless you ware down through to the alloy, you will need it in the certain spots or where there is gutter rash
