laggy with the t51r? how much power are you making at 100kmph/4000rpm?

ive also had a massive headache with controlling boost. went from a 38mm gate to a 33 and then eventually to a 60mm gate ive currently got. took a good few months to sort that out =[

My dyno sheet doesnt start till about 4500 from the auto and we had to ease the throttle on in the midrange as it was wheel spinning.

As for power at 100kph, cruising in top gear at 100 and stand on the throttle it would just light up the 18s

All I did was have 1 fitting installed on the intercooler hot pipe if you dont already have one, then had a dyno run with the boost signal coming from the hot pipe. Then Trent plotted both the plenum boost and the hot pipe boost and you can see how the difference gets wider as rpm increases. Therefore, I would get a good result out of a better intercooler with less pressure drop (ignore the std turbo graph).

My mech says that the vavles have to be taken out a actually tested. With all that effort I decided to just buy brand new ones. Will have it fited in a week.

Managed to also back pressure test the exhaust. Less then 1psi all the way to redline.

Still have yet to test the cooler, will be sorted out soon.

Valves out to test?

Did you check the manifold pressure or the exhaust pressure? and what exhaust manifold are you using?

Notcied you said you were having heaps of boost control issues? manifold might be doing funky shit to the exhasust gasses at the collector

Was this under load? If not, it doesnt mean much. Without load the cat would have to be very blocked for it show up as a restriction. There was another thread about a car that was tested by free revving to have less than 1psi to redline and the cat still ended up being a restriction (ie more than 20-30rwkw).

The run was under load. I'm not running a cat and it's a 3.5 straight pipe exhaust system. I highly doubted it was the exhaust but got it out the way.

I seem to also be having cas problems. Symptoms recently included alot of misfiring on cruise and running rich. This wasn't a issue when we had the car fully tuned months ago but is halting our progress until resolved.

Of anyone can help me out it's a r33 rb26. Which CASs are interchangeable?

This sounds familiar, did I meet you at Status last wed?

    • If doing that ^, I'd take the idle up valve out and plug the hole in the pump.
    • You can try capping the power steering idle up valve at both ends if it's old. The valve and the intake manifold. That is something that is known to fail in Toyotas with age and it will suck power steering fluid into the intake and burn it in the engine which can cause issues. Then bleed it again with engine off first. Do like 30+ lock to lock turns with the front wheels off the ground.
    • Hi Brent, I am wondering if you ever worked this out? I have upgraded this unit to a newer one and everything works bar the reverse camera, so i really want to know what plugs are what so I can patch the camera through. many thanks in advance Mike

    • Update:   smoke test all pipes no issues cleaned reservoir   fluid put in ( dexron 3 atf)   steering turn side to side and could hearing  gurgling from steering rack which I assumed was air lock, opened one of the steering rack connections and could see loads of air getting pushed out( not sure if you meant to do that / whether it will re introduce air into system)   anyways, loads of side to side sound was gone. Turned car on, pump was slightly ( barely) wining so turned side to side few more turns and fluid level when car on was almost none in resorvoir which I guess is normal if car is one. Turned car of and fluid was gushing out. Almost 200-300cc was pushed out. Repeated engine off side to side followed  by engine on and same result       going mad now. It seems system is either sucking air in whilst on or there is tons of air which I am not giving it enough time to bleed. Thoughts?   would it work like brake caliper if I open steering rack copper pipes and let gravity pull all air out?   or maybe have a restriction somewhere? What is the red circled item, could that be blocked? It i
