So as some of you may be aware, my r34 gtt was stolen i've now got it back an am contemplating buying an N/A r34 donor car to replace all of the interior etc.

My r34 is currently auto w/shift kit running 195rwkw.

The idea sprung to mind that the donor car is a 5 speed manual so i'd have all the bits to do the manual conversion as i rebuild my car.

my questions are:

will the n/a box break in 5 metres with that power?

How much power can they handle?

will everything bolt up?

are things like speedo sensors, tailshafts etc interchangeable?

What parts can I use/need to swap from what car?

is this a stupid idea? :P

Cheers

Steve

The only thing I can contribute is that my rb25de box is holding 280rwkw+ just fine... however my car is a GTS4 and I believe there are differences between a normal rb25de box and a gts4 box...

well thats a promising start anyway :) haha

The RB25DE box is essentially the same as the RB20DET. In fact, it is a direct swap (with different ratios that are actually better than the original RB20DET box's) into an R32 GTSt. RB20 boxes are pretty strong, but they really don't like being fed that much torque and will fail much earlier behind an RB25. So I would suggest not using the RB25DE box behind a turbo if you want it to have a long and happy life. You could do it and treat it moderately sensibly while you saved up to get a turbo box, which are <$1500 these days anyway.

The 4WD NA manual box is much different to the RWD RB25DE, so not a good comparison. Even in an R32 GTS4, the manual is about as strong as a GTR box straight up.
