^ ^ ^ so glad you said "almost"

The ones around Sydney that have had good feedback are

* Top Secret Imports

* JapLink

* Nagoya

* Powerplay Imports

* Northshore Prestige

...but even then, the odd one slips through.

I've been warned that for the next two months, there may be a few "hot" cars coming over from Sendai area.

And I haven't a clue as to how to geiger-count micro- or millisieverts

So does that mean cars heavily modified that have been street racer cars. or cars that have been stolen

I think it means cars that have been written off/flood damaged more than anything. Radation on the cars is bullshit.

The problem is gas leaks right? So even if the car was directly exposed a decent wash would have removed any high levels of radiation. People don't realise how incredibly high background radiation is; sand, bricks, air, the sky, are all continuously pounding us with radiation.

You think that's air you're breathing now?

*chokes*

Mate, that's what i was saying! Your right in that radiation on cars isn't really bullshit, there's radiation on everything. even banana's emit radiation. The fear of it is bullshit though.

Hopefully noone gets stung by water damaged imports though.

not so sure about radiation cars but I do know that flood cars are on the way here. I have been 'asked' to rebuid a few. said no to the request 3 times now.

Sorry, wasn't completely clear, I was agreeing with you lol

Wouldn't the car be denied by any compliance workshop if it was in any way flood damaged, or accident damaged if it was imported through SEVS?

What do you mean by rebuilding?

just that. take a wreck and a straight body and combine the two to make one car. yes it does happen and no the RAWS do not pick up on it. seen plenty.

next time you are wandering around an import yard that does Z11 cubes , crawl under the arse of one. I bet you see black tar coat around certain aspects of it. that is a sign its been built.

look at the front of it and you will probably find more surface rust that you ever thought possible. *that* was probably a flooded car..

Damn, I sure as hell hope no one pours their hard earned money into buying one of them if they get through.

I was referring to "hot" cars, myself.

2x importers' agents in Japan atm are using toothbrush size geiger counters to cursorily go over cars that have possibly come over from the E coast.

If any got detected as "hot" after arriving in Oz, it would have to be buried.

Even if it was parked next door to the power plant Terry, any fallout would've turned to regular old dust even before it was washed for transport to Aus. Quarantine has been quietly doing checks on cars coming in from Japan recent times and has found nothing.

Water damaged cars aren't a problem if they're completely stripped down and rebuilt, but the people who tend to buy them don't buy them as projects, they buy them to make a quick buck. As a result, they take short cuts and you end up with cars that work fine when you buy them, then smell mouldy and start having random electrical problems down the track.

Water damage generally comes from rivers, and being fresh water it doesn't cause an issue for rust. In the case of the tsunami, however, there are plenty of near-the-ocean cars that were borderline rusty that will now be much worse as a result of getting salt water through them. The flooded cars were already at auction under a week after it happened, but they're clearly marked and most of them are Kei cars and normal Japanese runabouts, not top end sports cars.

Edward is a nom de plum. 1st name is Phil.

And Lee is a phonetic of the 1st syllable of the surname.

Any further info will need to be sussed out.

Radiation btw can penetrate non porous material; not just this, at another Grade 7 area...

and if any "hot" stuff were to leave the shores of Japan, it'd only be for the next couple of weeks - estimated

Stop being stupid and wasting your money on dodgy backwater places. Deal with places that are well known (as mentioned above, and down here places like justjap, or anyone with a sub-section on this forum) or pay nothing until your satisfied.

You can't trust any car yards, even the ones mentioned above to be honest. I thought i was dealing with them was going to be good but it turns out that all they wanted me to do is purchase a car that 'their' guys in Japan can get. They weren't interested in importing what 'I' wanted and would tell me the cars I did want are all sold. But little did they know is I had a mate studying in Japan at the time and with one simple phone call simply revealed that it was still for sale.

They preferred to lie to me just so I can wait for what their guys can come up with. Sucks donkey balls if you ask me.

^ ^ ^ You're entitled to your own opinion - whether it's based on misinformation or truth.

And I'm the last one to try and convince you otherwise.

I've personally been involved in the purchase of 4 GT-Rs so far - 2 from private sales and 2 from importer/dealer - and can honestly say that each time, it was a good Nissan product.
