Hi Guys,

I've just taken over a heavily modified R33 (RB26DETT stroked to 2.8, with a single T78, AP Racing brakes, Aragosta suspension etc) and that has a surge tank in the left rear corner of the boot. The only problem I have is the car was rebuilt 2 years ago with only 5000kms done since then. There is a smell of petrol around (not strong, just there) & I've been told "thats what the old surge tanks are like".

As a Skyline newbie, I'd appreciate advice from some experienced guys on the best solution for this problem.

Cheers

Also the fittings to the surge tank can leak a fuel smell. I had the same problem , all the fuel lines which went onto the surge tank just had hose clamps around them , which leaked the fuel smell. What we did to fix the problem was custom made another surge tank with speedflow fittings on the end which connect the fuel lines. Now no fuel smell what so ever .

I have attached before & after pics on how we changed the setup & fixed the fuel smell.
