Mate... once they put the Rego into their computer, Trust me there going to know.. It's a Black listed P Plater car, In my eyes if your stupid enouph to drive that around you Might as well put a turbo on it now, Or buy a GTR or V8 Because your going to cop the same punishment, may as well go out in style BRAH!. :stupid:

and yet no one has answered what i need to no only what they think i dont already no lol

i no im not ment to be driving this car thank you for filling me in with your import

is there any one ealse that would rather tell me y i shouldnt b driving this car or can we talk about how to make it faster thanks

Dont listen to these fools. I had a friend who drove a 350gt for 6 months on his green P's during August 2010 - Feb 2011(then got his full license) . He was pulled over twice by the cops for breath tests. One being a road side breath test and the other was a cop car who randomly pulled him over. Both times they took his license to the car and checked out his details and twice they told him to go along his merry way.

FACT: When a police officer pops your rego in or your license details there is a box that will come up saying 'High powered Vehicel", the 350gt is not on this list hence no flags go up when the cop puts your details in. The reason for this is due to the 350gt not being on any prohibited list just that it is listed on the RTA website as a grey import and a variant of nissans 350z.

But considering you are on your P's it would be wise not to modify your car to draw attention to yourself since you are on your P's and driving an illegal car. My friend lives in Sydney and avoided the western suburbs and driving around on fridays and saturday nights around the city etc to stay away from highway patrol. Those cops are the only ones who really know the law. Maye consider removing the skyline and 350gt badge on the rear till you get your full license.

Also the 350gt became illegal in May 2010 so many cops do not know of it being illegal. But as time goes on news will get out and your normal cop cars and breath testing stations will become aware and might get you.

Remember this though, 7 demerti points and $400+ fine if caught, included parking your car on the side of the road and walking/cabbing home to mummy and daddy. If you have an accident insurance will not cover you depending on the severity of the claim.

To get back on topic seeing as your 18 and own a 350gt (25K+ car) then i can imagine price of items not being a major issue for you. Take your car to a mechanic that specialises on imports, tell them you want a new exhaust and intake system and they will quote you a price (inc items and labour). Call them in a couple of days and say you want 10% off the price as you have been quoted a better deal else where and they WILL say yes =D. These two modifications will give your car a much more aggressive sound and add 30+ kw to your car (maybe after a tune).

Question: have you insured your car?? if so who with. and if you dont mind telling the price .

I just bought a 350gt and i am 21 and insured with just car with the most expensive excess at a premium of $1800.

Lol, I'm not even going to start on the rest of the "facts" in this post, but I will address this one.

I can't see any decent workshop dropping their quote to get the business of some pimply teenager with an arrogant attitude. Demand a cut price job, and you'll most likely get it; just not the way you expect. They'll rush, or use lesser quality materials to do the job to make up the shortfall.

The other option you have in the highlighted situation, is to go to a reputable workshop that has a track record modifying vehicles like yours, ask their advice, then take said advice, and actually BUILD a long term relationship with a workshop you can now trust as you continue to modify. As your mods get more serious, most workshops will help you out with prices and labour costs because your repeat business is worth it. Unless of course you want to run all over town trying to scam workshops for a crappy discount.

Cheapest isn't always "cheap' in the long run, if you know what I mean.

Dont bother 206kw is plenty, and their is no special way to inhance your engine capabilities........you do it like every other naturally aspirated ride....exhaust, extractors, podfilter ( heatshield ) have your ecu tuned ETC, trying to get power from NA is for people with lots of cash to blow who are pleased by minimal gains.....so if your happy to achieve about 20-30hp increase doing these things then go ahead, you probally wont even feel the gains of it nothing like the big smile you will get by putting a strapping on a turbo .

ok maybe my 10% discount wasnt the best example but could you please point out where you think my 'facts' are wrong in my post?? =D

Why does everyone think there is some black magic to making horsepower...any 4-stoke gasoline engine works the same way as any other.

Do some research

Air+Fuel make fire, More air + More fuel = Bigger fire

Larger cams need more compression = New pistons.

No point building a nuts tough NA VQ35 if you are going to turbo it, they need competeley different setups.

So instead of having a car with 11ty killerwasps make it stop and turn better.

You are a p plater...so no doubt you think you are the next shumacher...but guess what Id wager 100 bucks says you aren't.

So spend a bit and make it turn corners and stop and spent the rest on actually learning how to drive.

No point having massive horsepower unless you are going to drag race the car every weekend

ok maybe my 10% discount wasnt the best example but could you please point out where you think my 'facts' are wrong in my post?? =D

It seems like the anecdotal "My mate did it and got away with it" and the age old "Cops don't know anything"about imports" is the thrust of your argument; EVERYBODY has a mate that got away with everything. I was the guy that got away with nothing; EVERY TIME I did something, I got nailed, so I just had to stop doing stupid shit, otherwise I'd have lost my license.

Trust me when I tell you, more than you think know what imports are, the Green Valley HWP centre has walls LITERALLY covered with pictures of P plater illegal vehicles and illegal mods; just so police can familiarise themselves with them. You're having yourself on if you think they don't know.

You're telling this guy to disregard GOOD advice (not always the most "fun" I realise), follow the rules then do it when you're allowed to; and do something bloody stupid. As if having P's on your car doesn't make you enough of a target; lets add an illegal vehicle...

Rant over.

Back on topic; Slip on a pod, remove the cats, get a shitarse loud exhaust and some ugly arse chrome wheels. Then you'll be fined and defected off the road for driving an illegal vehicle on your P's and I won't have to worry about an uninsured pinhead running into me in a car he cant handle.

REAL ADVICE; Put the 350GT in the shed, go buy a cheaper P plate legal car, learn to drive, then go for your life once you have a full license. If you need advice on mods for your V, check out the "V Series Skyline" section of the forum.

thanks everyone for some real advice

to all the people sayn aww he thinks he can drive and shouldnt have this for a first car

by no means is it my first lol its actuationly my forth i have graduely moved up cars starting from a suziki seria, then mazda 323 then ford falcon ute ba to this

i can handle myself. Just because im a p playter does not mean im mind less and not respect my cars

every car iv had iv loved and not for the power or wat not but for freedom

now im just looking to take the leval up

by no means im i stupid and go out and do skidds the cars worth to much money lol

but still thanks everyone for the peformance advice

As mentioned before, like every other NA,

1. Pods

2. Exhaust, (not too big or you'll lose low end), 2.5in? That's what was recommended for the supra. But it shouldn't be much different for your 3.5L

3. Extractors

4. Tune

And any more than that you'll just be wasting your money...

I like 350gt's

But 99% of the people who own them who I have had dealings with are complete knobs

In short V-Series Owners are like BMW owners...they think their car is so much more special than anything else that no normal car knowledge applies to them

Hmm so much for that being the short version...was longer than the long version.....now Im just dribbling crap.....why are you still reading?

:D

P.s Bitter and Jaded are what I do best lol

    • 49719 is the cooler loop. Right at the front, LHS of that diagram. Return line from rack (LP side) goes to cooler loop on RHS front of car, then back under engine and returns to bottom of tank. 49717M is feed from tank to pump. HP line out of pump is thick rubber, followed by the hard line that runs down to crossmember and runs in parallel (but opposite flow direction) to the LP return line. Nothing goes anywhere near the firewall or interior of car. The closest they get to that is the connections on the rack.
    • Thanks, plan is to drain all fluid tomorrow and do smoke test to find out the leak.   Appreciate your help and want to understand how the system work. So cooling is achieved by the long loop not any rad? The diagram seems to suggest it connects to somewhere inside the cabin and I thought that is a cooler inside firewall. If you look at the diagram it seems to show it connects to something inside firewall. I tried chasing it but not easy unless I take loads off   i am confident pump is good as fluid goes in and it gets soft( steering) but as soon as I turn engine off , loads of bubble come to surface and overflow. When engine is on , fluid level is below minimum but when off it shoots off and thinking it is sucking air in. I suspect aluminium pipe may have a crack line or whole   smoke test with no fluid should be a good start and if needed will remove the pump   In addition, the one going under the engine bay is high pressure line and one directly connecting from pump to resorvoir is return/ low pressure?   finally I searched and suggestion is to use dexron 2 but that is discontinued so bought dexron 3 as all research suggest it is compatible and shouldn’t cause any issues/ blow seals. I bought two liter of dexron 3 motul atf
    • Don't worry about. Just don't try to drive hard enough to make boost and you'll be fine.
    • Yes. This has already been said. It is a loop of hardline in front of the radiator. Because.... the pump is on the LHS and the steering rack hydraulic connections are where they always are on a RHD steering rack....on the RHS. The high pressure line goes down under the engine, along the crossmember, like it does on all Skylines. Don't just throw expensive braided hoses/other kits at it. Work out what is wrong and fix that.
    • Still got the afm on the intake, clamps are shut tight, only loose hose is the one that goes from the j pipe towards the IACV, since it's next to impossible to find a factory hose and the barbs are different sizes (I'm still using clamps on this hose to try and help it seal on the iacv side) I've ordered parts to make up the hotside of the intercooler pipes, I'll plumb it in and see what happens in a few days I suppose The turbo's internally gated, can I just unscrew the tension rod to let the gate open?
