hey i currently have i hks air filter on my 1993 r33 gtst skyline i have the rb 25 i looked at tests about the filter and they dont look to flash should i change it asap and if so what for ?

Burn it.

If it was me id be replacing it with an Apexi. Either the pod, or if you have the stock airbox chuck an Apexi Panel filter in there.

You only need to change it if it is stuffed, or if you think the tiny bit more power is worth the money

unless you are driving in dusty conditions you don't have to worry too much about how much crap they let in, but i would still look at replacing it with something a bit better.

Tests on air filtering are based on 2 criteria...

a) efficacy of filtering and

b) flow rate

HKS is poor on both.

Simota is good on flow and fair on filtering - these sponge filters do fit the HKS mushroom pods.

APEXi is good on both and it's a dry filter which means it is better suited to an intake that uses AFMs

K&N is very good on both but being an oiled filter, particular care must be taken on re-oiling if you have AFMs
