Still no leak,

After it had sat around for a while that was when I noticed it leaked previously, so I recon it's fixed.

There are still orings on the inside of the unit that will be deformed and no longer sealing properly, reducing the effectiveness of the abs unit.

so its more worthwhile to use the r33/r34 abs unit for longevity?

The rebuilt ABS unit is back in and (partially) bled. Took it for a spin around the block and will check for leaks tomorrow.

To bleed it properly the ABS unit needs to be operated while it's being bled with pressure. When you start the car it runs the ABS motor, but I'm not sure if its actuating the solenoids.I have a feeling these were pre-bled at the factory then installed.

Next step is to monitor the ABS with an oscilloscope so I can make a bleeding tool. Then I can bench test whole unit :)

Would you happen to be in Melb? I lost motivation but another person into electronics and cars would get me back on this project again. Got all the test tools here :)

I'm in Sydney. I have an oscilloscope now so I can monitor the solenoids when the ecu is activating them.

Ideally I would like to reprogram the ecu. The original one is designed for a new standard car, not what everyone has now.

If you don't mind, let me know your thoughts on how you plan on testing them.

Can i get an update on this? I would like to know all the materials used in this. My ABS pump is leaking around the motor and i want to rebuild the 0-rings within the unit. I have an o-ring that has about 30 different sized o-rings.

So I have rebuilt my abs pump using just some O-rings I had. It's been about a month with no leaks. I did make a video breaking down the pump.

I'm also interested in swapping in a R34 abs pump. Looks simple as the plugs are almost the same. Looks like a simple repin job.

I need the wiring diagram for the R34 abs pump. I have access to dozens of pumps and want to give this a try. An abs delete is always an option too.

R34 has 6 solenoids, R32 has 3. You need to run extra wires.

Weird. I've heard of 3 and 4 solenoid units, the difference being whether the rear wheels use a single circuit for both wheels or one for each. Any idea what the 6 are for?

ok, a search has brought me nothing yet again.

How does the r34 ABS have 6? i really could use a wiring diagram.

Which is better to swap? R34 or R33? i have access to a R33 GTR ABS pump and all R34 ABS pumps are the same from what i have seen.

Im sure there are only a handful of people that have attempted this.

Hi folks, new R32 GTR owner here, and sorry to revive an old thread.

The ABS actuator has been leaking since I got my 1990 GTR back in May this year. I would like to know if you fine folks can please share information regarding the size of O-rings, so I can gather them before I take mine to a shop for rebuild. Also, there was a mention of a video on tearing down the actuator. Is that video available?

Thank you all in advance, Squirrel.

I would have thought that a brake specialist workshop accustomed to working on ABS actuators would not only have a bunch of suitable O-rings on hand to suit any and all makes but not require their customers to source them beforehand.

Hint...I'm suggesting taking it to a brake specialist - a proper one, not one of those bloody chain store type ones you have in the US - to get it serviced. Given that you're going to take it to "a shop" for the work anyway.

    • The cam I am actually putting in (a few posts up) is actually smaller than my current one. At least duration/overlap wise. All the chop stuff I hear just sounds like an engine running badly, because it is. I then envision driving it around in 1st gear and being massively sad about it bucking to the beat of said chop. There is an idle video of someone with a similar cam floating around the internet, but mine is a custom cam (so is his) so it'll never be the same, plus the fact exhausts are entirely different. What I want to do is put some bullet mufflers/race mufflers in to replace a couple sections straight pipes that currently replace the two extra cats that I don't need. But this is even further down the line!
    • I can tell you now, when the bracket that the little hydraulic ram attaches to snaps, with a subframe, and V8 from an AMG C63 on it, it sounds like someone letting shotgun off right beside you. It leaves your ears ringing, and a huge thankfulness that you never ever put a body part under something heavy that's only supported by a hydraulic lift...
    • Still not a guarantee fix. I used a high quality butyl-mastiq (the black goo that's not really silicone nor polyurethane, same stuff they use from the factory that just spreads out like melty cheese), and I still get lots of water on both sides of the trunk when raining or washing the car. I also suspect the factory spoiler rubber gasket might not be sealing well, so I'm thinking of adding a thin layer of grey silicone around the bolt holes on both sides and see if that's where it also leaks from. The biggest issue is that these cars don't come with a drain hole on each side like other coupes and hatchbacks.
    • I hate it, but maybe he could paint it Monster jam style and call it...godzilla?
    • Would seem to me to be appropriate to go GTR style bar. There are options with and without N1 vent holes, with the GTR lower lip integral (because FG copy). https://justjap.com/search?q=r32 bumper
