Sorry to revive an old thread!

I have just removed all the hicas system from my cefiro. I plan to use one of the hicas eliminator kits available on the web and I plan to plug up the holes left in the steering rack with bolts and the leftover lines going to and from the power steering pump and reservoir will plumb into a power steering cooler. Will I have any problems in doing any of this? i.e heavy steering?

Shouldn't do, no need to plug the lines in the rack though just pull out the solenoid/lines running to the back and plumb the front lines into a cooler.

I had this setup in my 32 and had no problems

Well I have done this now and it does make the power steering heavy all the time, so you lose the light feel at low speeds (under about about 60 kph I think it is).

I think its in your head.

If you didnt remove the HICAS ecu, and only unplugged it then it wouldnt have changed anything in terms of low speed driving.

Yes but the HICAS sees a fault, because the rack is disconnected, so goes into fail mode, applying minimal power assist to the steering, and the light comes on too (I removed the bulb).
