Hey guys.

Just looking for some advice for a day at the drags coming up shortly in regards to getting the most out of my car without changing any major parts or spending huge wads of nonexistant cash.

R33 Gts-t, with 245rwkw running slightly unsuitable Tein Superstreet coilovers. I am not changing the suspension so I want to make the most of what I have in terms of Aerodynamics and weight savings.

I have already removed the backseat, spare tyre, tools, sound deadening, rear wiper.

Running 15" steelies rear with Mickey Thompson ET's are set to 20psi and stock 16s at the front set to 45psi (max pressure rating on the Tyre wall). Also will be using tape to block any unneeded gaps on the front to assist airflow.

I run a GTR wing day to day. Any opinions on this whether to remove it to reduce drag and weight??? Or leave it to try and keep some weight over the rear wheels???

I've done a couple of drag days before but am certainly still a rookie at it. Any other suggestions I could trial to try and sneak a few 10ths?? Looking for anything under 12.5 but I don't think I will be able to sneak 11's with the Tein suspension. That won't stop me trying. Prev best was a 13.8 a couple of years ago but with near standard car on the same MT tyres.

Surely theres more I can do without spending cash to help make it quicker

No point taping up panel gaps etc, you wont be going fast enough to have to worry about that

But yeah, you will need to find the best way to launch I used 4500rpm and rode the clutch to stop wheel spin (before I got a 2-step)

Everyone has a different way of doing it, you will just need to find what works for you

Man DW about the coilovers. With rock hard Jap-spec stuff i was running 12.9 with 220rwkw in my GTSR, full weight and over 1500kg. (seats in, spare etc).

Also airflow - forget it. It's not fast enough as stated.

1.9-2.0 60fts consistently back in the day. That was in 225 Dunlop 3000A street tyres :D

The launch is where it all counts. The rest is not as important at all as it's just ensuring you shift correctly.

Check the tyre pressures after your run as well and adjust to suit if need be. I'd expect you to have 1.6 60ft's without much drama at all.

With 245rwkw on MT's you would be in the high 11s / deep 12 if you can get the launch right, I think you'll need more than 4500rpm given the tyre choice off the line.

I might come along that day actually as myself and all my mates wanna do a drag day :D

Sunday 29th May at Heathcote is when i'll be out there. Be great to have a few others there. Esp people with a lot more experience then myself. Of all my friends my closest competition will be a standard BA XR8 Falcon on her first attempt. So im only really in it to see low I can get my times. Anything over 12.5 I will be leaving the Skyline parked outside and the Statesman will be moving into the shed.
