Have really enjoyed my time in skylines ( especially the GTR ) but I am staying focused ( great pun ) on my goal this time... as much as I don't like holdens... I need a ute, the dirt bike is getting very sad that it's been neglected. No one wants to see a sad dirt bike.

I agree, although I do not agree about the Holden part. Ford utes >> holden utes. XR6t FTW.

GL with the sale.

BTW, Focuses are ball tearing little cars. If only I could bear to live with a front driver!

Well it's either an SS or an XR6T to be fair. Leaf springs are a bit of a concern, but XR6T engine power and econ is awesome... XR8 is out, apparently it's an engine out job to put extractors on ?! no deal.

Yeah not gonna lie, front wheel drive is a downfall... I don't care what ford says. This car certainly can break traction quite easily, especially with the extra power, that said, it's got decent tyres and a test drive will show a decent amount of grip for FWD. Certainly once the speed is up, it just gets stronger and pulls very hard in the higher gears. It's a 160kw@fronts, but a very flat power curve with boost coming on very early, feels less peaky than my other I've had with similar power. very responsive.

I'd prefer leaf springs for towing/carrying. Wheels don't toe out when the weight sinks the back. Not to mention the XR towing capacity far exceeds the SS. And I'm pretty sure there are extractors ut there which don't require the engine out now for XR8s. Look at Herrod, Di Filippo and Blue Power and the prices of exhausts, fitted, are much the same as 6's and SS's.

And in all reality the handling of the XRs is as good as the SSs. There's little between them and they both have their strengths and weaknesses..

Yeah I'll happily trade for XR6 Turbo ute aswell...

hopefully get rid of it this weekend. carsales ad now says 19,900.... probably take the best offer this weekend.

turned down overs of 19500 and 19000, but shouldn't have... so hopefully get more offers this weekend

Hi Mate,

If you're interested I might be interested in taking a few of those lovely parts off your hands and you can replace with my stock items....? Shoot me a PM if you want some extra dollars from your sale.

Thomas

you can fit the extractors to the xr8 without removing engine but it is an absolute mission and a 2 days job, i work in an exhaust shop, we have done lots.

Didn't get any offers over the weekend, so put the price back up on carsales to over 20k. The stats show I'm getting more hits with the price just over 20k than just under... weird.

Anyway, almost certainly will sell the dreamscience hand unit which will have 4 lives left on it after I sell the car, so will keep you posted if you'd like.

People don't seem to like the idea of a tuned car, so will flash back to stock before sale.

by the way, no finance owing now. Have paid it out, feel free to do a revs check :-D

can put back to stock exhaust if desired, will take a bit of time to sort out though, so I'd prefer just to get some cash now.

    • Thanks, plan is to drain all fluid tomorrow and do smoke test to find out the leak.   Appreciate your help and want to understand how the system work. So cooling is achieved by the long loop not any rad? The diagram seems to suggest it connects to somewhere inside the cabin and I thought that is a cooler inside firewall. If you look at the diagram it seems to show it connects to something inside firewall. I tried chasing it but not easy unless I take loads off   i am confident pump is good as fluid goes in and it gets soft( steering) but as soon as I turn engine off , loads of bubble come to surface and overflow. When engine is on , fluid level is below minimum but when off it shoots off and thinking it is sucking air in. I suspect aluminium pipe may have a crack line or whole   smoke test with no fluid should be a good start and if needed will remove the pump   In addition, the one going under the engine bay is high pressure line and one directly connecting from pump to resorvoir is return/ low pressure?   finally I searched and suggestion is to use dexron 2 but that is discontinued so bought dexron 3 as all research suggest it is compatible and shouldn’t cause any issues/ blow seals. I bought two liter of dexron 3 motul atf
    • Don't worry about. Just don't try to drive hard enough to make boost and you'll be fine.
    • Yes. This has already been said. It is a loop of hardline in front of the radiator. Because.... the pump is on the LHS and the steering rack hydraulic connections are where they always are on a RHD steering rack....on the RHS. The high pressure line goes down under the engine, along the crossmember, like it does on all Skylines. Don't just throw expensive braided hoses/other kits at it. Work out what is wrong and fix that.
    • Still got the afm on the intake, clamps are shut tight, only loose hose is the one that goes from the j pipe towards the IACV, since it's next to impossible to find a factory hose and the barbs are different sizes (I'm still using clamps on this hose to try and help it seal on the iacv side) I've ordered parts to make up the hotside of the intercooler pipes, I'll plumb it in and see what happens in a few days I suppose The turbo's internally gated, can I just unscrew the tension rod to let the gate open?
    • Did this ever go further ? Would love some updated info
