Hey Guys

Just bought a new Carbon fibre cam gear cover for my R33 . Is there any tricks on removing & replacing the factory item with a Carbon one ? Any tips on what to watch out for would be much appreciated  Tried searching the topic but couldn't find much info on it

You'll want to reset the CAS position with a timing light after you re-assemble. Also there's spacers in the standard cover to ensure it sits at the correct distance, which is important for the CAS operation. If the distance is wrong you'll kill the CAS so make sure the new one has equivalent spacers or (if possible - i dunno i've never taken the cover off) use the spacers from the standard cover.

Hopefully someone who has first hand experience can provide more detail/corrections.

its pretty straight forward , just mark the cas screws with a pen or scratch before you pull it off and put it back in exactly the same position, should be fine, mine was

Im not sure what spacers hes talking about as cas bolts to a plate behind the cover anyway..

Did exactly what u wrote & all worked out fine with the new carbon fibre cover. The only thing i had to do was drill out the holes on the new cover , to make a little bigger for screws to sit better in. When fabricated they were to small . The washers he is talking about are in a seal which sits behind the CAS , they sit in each corner of the seal in a triangle pattern .

Good to hear , didnt see any washers in mine

there was a hep of black sealing goo behind it though maybe the washers were stuck under it

Dare say they would of been ! I firstly pulled the gasket off the original cover & tried to put it on the carbon one. That plan didn't quite work out , so just decided to take the spacers out of it & place behind CAS . Then put the screws into place & lined them up with the marks i made where the screws were sitting before i pulled it off .
