Hey, We are in the process of putting together a r32 gtr race car and a had few questions.

1-can we just remove the stock dash and replace with an aftermarket one. Is there anything that is important to things running correctly? Everything seems to be tied toghter with these cars so I figured I would ask

2-I dropped the rear subframe and was wondering about subframe bushes. Is there an off the shelf replacement to move the subframe closer to the body?

3-I'm considering running ikeya formula arms but want to run a s14 subframe down the road. Can you use r32 gtr arms with an s14 subframe? Unless I can just modify my bnr32 subframe

if you are building it for the track....are you building it for a specific race class or just trrack days?

if for a class, some mods may not allowed...so if modding it, you'd want to see if those mods meet your class regs

You can remove the cluster but may need to supplement something for a torque gauge. Can't remember if ours worked without it.

There is no aftermarket subframe bushes that move the subframe closer to the chassis that are off the shelf as far as I know.

Typically I modify the subframe and supply Cnc machined alloy bushes to solid mount it and raise it as well.

What are you reasonings Behind wanting to use an s14 subframe in the GTR? Curious to hear them..

Subframe risers are a common mod these days. Drifters love them.

powered by max make them (off the top of my head) along with plenty of others.

2 issues with running an s14 subframe. 1) the subframe mounting points are slightly different (can be overcome with offset drilled subframe risers which are less common but i have seen them around) and 2) the r32 arm's don't fit the later subframe.

if you really want to change subframes I would go to R33 or R34 subframes. as far as dash goes speed signal comes out of the dash to the ecu so you'll need to replicate that speed signal. the other things that come to mind at the AWD light, also hicas light (which also displays low PS fluid warning). they are all easily overcome though.

Is S14 subframe the same as R33?

If so is it only the swaybar & upper camber arms that aren't interchangeable?

    • Possibly avoid using a Cometic one unless the deck/head surface are perfectly flat. I did have a look just then and forgiving gaskets such as Tomei or Nitto don't exist for the FJ20, however the Bar-Tek or Kameari ones look good and might do the trick.
    • Because pipe threads for pipe things. M threads for bolt things. Throw some teflon sealant onto it and dust your hands off knowing you did the right thing, instead of going twice around the block to achieve a result using the wrong things. Of course, all of these solutions are ignoring the fact that the minimum thread pitch we're talking about here is 1.25mm, with the 1/4" in NPT or BPS being out around 1.4mm. You will need to know that the boss you're tapping has enough thickness for at least a few threads. That's one of the reasons that 1/8" is commonly used - because the pitch is <1mm. And why would you look to use 1/4" NPT in a BSP country anyway? Ugh.
    • Just throwing around ideas, does it need to be in the compressor cover? Why not the hot side piping?
    • 1/8NPT drill size = 8.7mm. Since the hole got messed up by me, it’s probably around 9mm.    So 1/4” NPT would be next step. A drill size of around 11mm would be preferred there which is not way of my M12 (drill 10.5mm and tap M12 threads)
