Importing parts direct from Japan

Recommended Posts

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I wish to import a Apexi GT-Spec Cooler from Nengun, but I’m wondering the following:

Does the ATO slap duties and/or GST on?

Where do they do this?

When do I pay for this?

How do I pay for this?

How likely is it to get through without duties?

I tried a search on this topic, but didn’t really get a full answer from reading other threads…

MAYBE this could be an “Importing From JAPAN FAQ”

Cheers

Hi!

When using the postal system, as you probably will be (EMS, etc) :

If they tick sample or gift on the box when they send this then its illegal but u won't have to pay duties or GST. Be careful with this.

Otherwise you have to go to the local airport and pay duties and GST and the customs office then you can pick up your package. But this is for goods under the value of $1000 including packaging.

Regarding your order it is likey it will be over $1000 therefore you will have to get a customs broker to process ur order for you, then pay them the GST and Duty afterwards.

I think the maths is ( {Item x 1.15"Duty"}+ Shipping)*1.10"GST

Custom Brokers are the best as SOME custom brokers can be a bit rude to first timers. Hasn't happened to be, but if you have a bit of an attitude then watch out :(

And if u dont pay the duties then no items.

If you have any more questions then just PM me!

Cheers.

I would be careful though as it is illegal to recieve the parts without paying customs. I have only heard of one instance where the items were not sent through, so it is a very small risk. (May of had nothing to do with duties) But the choice is yours.

I think you'll find that most people that have delt with nengun didn't pay any taxes.

Also, i think theri price is more like $1200 delivered to your door.

(but that might be a different brand)

Send him a mail and see what he says

Our Customers pay tax. Anyone who has recieved a part from us will not have the words simply Gift or sample written on the EMS label. Not all parts have the same duties. You can ask to veiw the tax book.
